Has anyone heard of this new site that values your home and property? (Zillow.com) It is new and they have something on CNN about it, but of course the site is down, probably too much traffic.

They have a haiku on their 'site down' page. Awesome.

I haven't heard of this one, but it probably uses some home evaluation algorithm that compares certain key elements of your home with recent sales in the area. The lending industry has been using these for years when doing refi's (especially with low LTV's) because it's much cheaper than doing an appraisal.

The site seems up now, but when I tried it, all it did was tell me how much my house was tax assessed for in 2003, which happens to be about $250,000 less than its current market value.

Unimpressive.

Yeah I just did it too. It has the correct date I bought it at, but the value is alot lower and the location is way off (info as of 2003 as well). I am unimpressed but it does have some potential.

They are wrong about my square footage. But they do seem to have a pretty good sense of what I would think my home is valued, so that's kind of neat.

My house actually is about $50,000 more on Zillow that what it was appraised for last year. Which, considering our area, is not too far off.

i take back my unimpressed. my house just didn't have zestimate data, but for those that do, it's a very cool site.

stalkers rejoice!

It seems like you've been studying for that test forever! Ask Cringer to take a load up north here, drop you off, then come pick you up before your test ;)

Well, hopefully this is right. If it is, my house has increased in value $364k in less than 5 years :)

My empty lot is worth more than my neighbors' houses. ;) Nah, it just happens to have a picture from before my house was built, but has the assessment data from after it was done.

The market in Texas, well certain areas of Texas should be good for a long while ....I took a class where thy taught you what was on the test just so you could pass. the state exam was harder for me....once you get in though, I HIGHLY reccomend working for a builder. You have a built in product to sell and while you do have to work weekends, it is much less overall work then trying to farm a living out of nothing to begin with...especially when there are vets that have been doing it for years that you have to try and take some business from.

Yes, I resurrected this mutha!

To post what appears to be a legit article but you could easily convince me was released on April 1st or on The Onion.
