I am suprised there is no thread on the Grammys yet... So I will start one.
Am I the only one that hated to see Kanye West win?

The reason there probably wasn't one is the chance that someone would have posted a spoiler.

Oh uhm, oops. Did I say Kanye West? I meant Eminem. Yah, they look so much alike and everything.

The wife had the red carpet show on, I recognized like 1 person in 30 minutes. So I turned on the computer :)

You know, the show should be played at the same time throughout the nation to avoid confusion like this.

Here is a question for everyone.
Teri Hatcher, was the shirt see-through or was their skin colored cloth covering her breasts?

No, I think she is hot. However, I'm not watching this tonight. My answer is more of a general opinion.

Glad to see Keith Urban getting Country Male Vocalist (which was one of those pre-broadcast awards). It's been quite a year for him.

Best show I've ever seen, hands down, in country music, he gives 110% every night and the g/f and I are heading to Muncie this weekend to see him again.

Yes, then the lead singer gave the award to Merle Haggard for lifetime achievement for a country artist.

Well, typically it doesn't sound like music to me. I can see the appeal in some of the songs (the more melodic ones), but I don't care for loud bass beats, sampled (aka stolen) riffs, and talking. It's probably the way the old fogies felt about rock and roll back in the day, but I've tried to listen to some of it and found that it just grated on my nerves like nothing else I've listened to.

Well I feel that way towards rock and roll, country, and alot of other genres. I dont know what to say other than different strokes for different folks.

The Grammys are even more stupid than the Oscars.
There are so many brilliant groups that destroy the winners of this garbage, but they don't play politics and sell out. I shit on these awards, even if I like a person/group that wins.

Ditto. Not only are these types of award shows nothing but self-congratulatory tripe, but these music shows are nothing but popularity contests. And the fact that they try to act hip and inclusive by nominating fringe artists just damages their credibility that much more. Like Jethro Tull winning over Metallica for the first-ever metal Grammy, or Fountains of Wayne getting best new artist for their third album. What a bunch of clueless dumbfucks.

Not the most eloquent, but it is straight to the point. I agree 100%.

I am a fan, mostly of their older stuff but I agree that their latest album rocks, but they should not have gotten that award. Kanye got ripped...
I really, really, really do not get rap music. Seriously.
I generally do not listen either, but I appreciate the talent that is out there... especially KWest.

We don't go to concerts much but my wife and I did make the trip to see him at Red Rocks last September. She is absolutely nuts about him and I just was stunned in thinking that this was one of the greatest rock/country performers of all time. He's that good.
Very, very happy to see U2 winning the big awards. They wanted to make an album that was not only true to their beliefs but grammy-worthy; which was probably why much of the album had to be redone.
Too bad much of the show had to really suck in the worse possible way.

'IDOL' AMATEURS BEAT 'GRAMMY' PROS IN RATINGS

How 100+ wannabes Outrated Madonna, U2
The music business suffered another embarrassment Wednesday night -- when AMERICAN IDOL's Hollywood cattle call drew a larger audience than THE GRAMMY AWARDS!
The amateur pop contest was easily the top-rated show of the night, NIELSEN claimed, with a 17.4 rating/26 share to GRAMMY's 12.3 rating/19 share.
In direct competition at 8 pm ET, IDOL hit 27 share to GRAMMY's 16 share.
Overall, CBS's broadcast of the industry's top music award slipped from 2005 levels.[12.3/19 from 13.2/20]

Like Jethro Tull winning over Metallica for the first-ever metal Grammy
Very true. However, this particular instance made possible the very best Grammy acceptance speech the next year, when Metallica accepted the award by saying "We're just glad Jethro Tull didn't put out an album this year" or something to that effect. :D

Totally agree with that, as my girlfeind and I have probably seen him play with at least 10 different artists now, including Kenny Chesney and Gretchen Wilson at Heinz Field, and I haven't seen him put on one bad performance any of the dozen times we've seen him. In Columbus (the 10 minute drive compared to at least 2-6 hours for the other shows), his voice just gave out at the end, but he found somethin and was able to finish the show. The best was in Nashville, when we went for his concerts at the Ryman, my girlfriend and I met him at breakfast before the 3rd show and he was very nice and let us take a pictcure with him. He's earned all of these awards by putting in the effort every night.
EDIT: Was it after the Red Rocks concert when a few people died from a rockslide on their way back home?
