View Full Version : Valentine's Day Gift Debacle

So yesterday my girlfriend met me at my house right after work; I walked in the door with her.
I jumped in the shower real quick, having worked out after work, and she sat down and started doing some work for her Adobe Illustrator class. ANYWAY, on my desk was a list of what I had to do for Valentine's Day and without even thinking about it being there, she saw it.
On the note was written: Song and Flowers. I was going to buy her flowers, take her out for dinner, and am finishing a song that I've been writing for a few days now that I was going to burn to a CD etc etc.
So, what should I do now? Do I go with the original plan or should I think of something new? I would love to come up with something that would really surprise her. We cannot do anything elaborate because we both work Wednesday morning. We've been dating about 2 months but it has been the most intense and special relationship either one of us has been a part of.
I'm usually good with gifts etc and was going the traditional route for V-Day and spicing it up a bit with the CD I was going to make her (insert and all) for her song. Nothing too extravegant.
Got any ideas? If I can think of something fresh and original (not cholocate or a stupid bear) I think I will go with it.
Oh, and since I know it's bound to be asked here is a pic:

Definetely keep the song as part of the night. Girls are suckers for things like that - songs, poerty, love letters etc. Of course if a guy wrote a poem for me, I'd wonder if he was gay...but songs and love letters are special.

Songs are just poems put to music...

True. I guess the added step of adding music doesn't creep me out as much.

... or just take her to Taco Bell, because according to some it's better than oral sex.
I have a funny V-day story.
As a rule my wife and i don't do valentines day.Why would we love each other more on one day than the others??
Anyways.....i decided i was gonna surprise her with some jewelery one V day.I purchased it with my visa.My wife in 10 years had NEVER opened a Visa bill.Well...guess what....for some reason she opened the one that had the jewelry purchase on it,......$@#$@$#!....i came home to find the envelope open, but she never mentioned anything about it.
I knew she had seen the purchase,so i returned it.............and repurchased it on my American Express card.:D
V-day came and i could tell all day she was expecting something. It was KILLING her not to ask me if i had bought her anything. At about 10 pm the dam broke. She storms into our bedroom asking what i bought at the jewelry store.I played dumb(not a stretch)...whatever would i be in a jewery store for?????
I had her call Visa and they told her that the charges had been reversed. There was no longer a charge from the jewelry store on our bill.
With that settled she climbed unto bed with me........and layed on her new jewelry box:D:D
Surprise!
Needless to say.....she was VERY happy that night....and so was i :)

Not always, but believe me, when your dick turns out raw, Burger King can be better then oral sex.

One year I handmade a book of haiku for Mrs. Speechcoach. These were poems that we had been trading over e-mail (it was a phase we were going through). Imagine my surprise when she had made the same thing for me? Gift of the Magi anyone?

Thank you. She wont be going anywhere.
You know the feeling, when you've worked so hard your whole life to make yourself the person you are today...and then finally someone comes along who makes all of the hard work pay off? That is her to me.
We are very open about our feelings for one another already. She has already told her family (and me) that I am the one for her. I've returned the comments. We've both been in enough other relationships to know when something is truly special (which this truly is, in more ways that I can share) and to know just what we are looking for. I truly feel blessed. She is my best friend, and I've never felt so close, honest (being myself 100% of the time) and comfortable with someone.
I'm hoping a few years from now I'll be posting my engagement thread. My fingers are crossed!

I got a pretty necklace pendant I had asked for and added it to an existing necklace that I had.
I got radii a new fog free shaving mirror for the shower - I know it's not romantic but when I asked what he wanted this is what he told me - and he likes it :)
Just got home from the Melting Pot and am SO full...love that place!

I got the finacee' roses and a card and I got a couple of cards, some dark chocolate Hersey Kisses, and she cooked me dinner when I got home from work.
We didn't do much this year so we could save up for the wedding.

As I said in another thread, we didn't do anything special as she was working from 8 last night to 8 this morning :(
She'd dropped the hint that if I wanted to give her something for v-day, it had to be the latest CD from Avenged Sevenfold. Ya, you read right, Avenged Sevenfold, how romantic :D I played dumb when she mentionned it, adding something like "we give each other gifts at v-day now???" but went and bought it this weekend. On Monday evening, I put it in her car's CD player and set it so she'd be listening to "Bat Country" on her way to work on Monday night. She told me it made her night :)

My girlfriend and I have been together for about 5 months. Last weekend, we spent a night in the city, so splitting the hotel room was our present to each other, and I took her out for dinner and drinks. We're both right out of college so we try not to spend too much, but this was a good way for us to have a nice night out together. I consider myself very lucky that I have a girl who doesn't *expect* me to spend money on her, unlike some of my friends' girlfriends.
