How do you do this exactly? I've searched for threads and I know that you use the print screen button but what happens after that? My cpu doesn't seem to be responded to that button.

ctrl-prtscrn
After you do this, open up paint or any other image editing program. Right click, and paste.
Now you have your image. You can edit it from there and save in in multiple formats.

alt-prntscrn captures only the active window (instead of cntrl-prntscrn).

I don't know if you have an HP laptop, but my laptop has a little button that says "fn" in blue, and to use print screen on mine, I have to hit fn+home (which is the prt sc button if the blue button is held).
Tooke me three tries last night to figure out the combination, as it's the first time I've tried to use that feature on this laptop. :)

Although I would suggest downloading and installing Paint.Net in replace of using regular old paint.
