Well, I was there for the Feb. 25 House Show (they did 2 dates, Feb. 24 and 25). The last time they were here, was during the ManilaMania tour in '94... so, yeah it's been a long time.

The event lasted three hours, before a jampacked Araneta Colisseum filled with 18,000 screaming fans (including me! :P)

The card was:

Eugene def. Snitsky
Torrie Wilson & Lita def. Maria & Trish Stratus special guest referee Val Venis
Rob Van Dam def. Tyson Tomko
Mick Foley def. Carlito
IC Title: Shelton Benjamin def. Viscera
Ric Flair & Big Show def. Triple H & Chris Masters
Ric Flair birthday celebration
WWE Title, Cage Match: John Cena def. Edge

Everyone got a nice pop. The arena exploded for Triple H, the guy is so fucking over in the Philippines. It's insane. Hah. And I'm a HHH mark. Cena also got an amazing, amazing pop during his entrance and when he won. I'm sorry, the guy might have a limited amount of moves... but he cane work a crowd and he hides his weaknesses really well. I came in a huge Cena cynist, and walked out a complete mark. Jeez. I feel dirty. :)

(this HHH pic came out all blurry because the arena was literally shaking due to the screams and feet stomping of everyone there)

Some YouTube Videos that captured just how hot the Araneta Colisseum was:

dola.

I think they should hold WM22 here, instead of Chicago. HHH vs. Cena would blow the fucking roof off the entire place.

Jesus. Those pix look good. I've gone to some house shows and I don't remember them looking like that. It's been a few years, but what I remember is always thinking they look smaller in real life.

WWE always gets increadible reactions overseas - they should do more RAWs and Smackdowns from places like Manilla - it would come across great on TV.

Just saw something on Boston.com about this show:

MANILA, Philippines --On the day the president imposed a state of emergency, the biggest crowd in the Philippine capital wasn't protesting in the streets. Instead, more than 15,000 people packed an arena to watch world wrestling heroes slug it out in the ring.

The U.S. wrestlers got a more rapturous reception than former President Corazon Aquino, an icon of democracy who defied a ban on rallies and led anti-government marchers in Manila's financial district.

World Wrestling Entertainment champion John Cena was among wrestlers who performed in two shows, one of them on Friday, when President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declared an emergency to quell a coup plot.

The wrestlers "were asked to stay in groups and when possible remain in their hotel rooms because of the chaos and potential for violence," WWE said on its Web site. All left the country safely, it said.

Cena, of West Newbury, Massachusetts, is known for fighting maneuvers called the "Six Moves of Doom," as well as a signature taunt in which he waves one hand in front of his face and tells his opponent: "You can't see me."

Another wrestler who braved the Philippines' political upheaval to fight at Manila's Araneta Coliseum was Paul Michael Levesque of Nashua, N.H., also known as the Cerebral Assassin. He likes to dispatch his foes with moves such as the Indian deathlock and the Spinebuster.

Or, that I don't think I've ever seen Trips do an Indian Deathlock.
