So has anybody watched it yet? I loved Kimmel on the Man's Show and thought he was decent on FOX, but it doesn't seem he was cut out for being a talk show host. I wish him all the best, but I don't see it lasting too long.

How was it? Anything comparible on now, or was on in the past?

Hey, look at it this way, only a few more shows and he'll have already passed Chevy Chase. :D

I didn't see it after the Superbowl but I heard they got in big trouble with the ABC brass because according to reports they were serving alcohol to the audience. The audience was very loud and boisterous and I guess a women actually vomitted in the crowd causing people to look into what was going on.

Ahh, so it is in fact LIVE!! More reality TV?

How could ABC NOT know they were serving alochol to guests? That was part of the write-ups I've been reading about the show for the past several weeks. It was in the CNN article, for chrissake! Maybe they didn't know until after the first few were taped or something, but after that, they seem to have made it part of their press package about the show.

They probably knew but after the lady threw up and the crowd was so wild I think they had to backpedal and throw it all on the show. Lord knows Disney would never "knowingly" condone this sort of behavior.

I think it was in the Sports Guy "interview," they were playing up the fact that the show was going to be boisterous because both the audience and guests had access to an open bar.

Is Snoop dog a co-host?..he's been on twice already

Luckily for a lot of us, the Sports Guy may be right back at ESPN's Page 2 on a full time basis rather quickly, if this JKL show goes the way of the XFL and The Family Guy.

The trades are giving it terrible reviews, FWIW.

I'm paraphrasing, but Variety called it a show designed by a network that couldn't survive on cable.

I watched bits and pieces on Sunday, and it wasn't very good.

BUT...

if you watch really really really early Letterman shows, you'll see that they weren't that good. Same with Conan. Same with Leno.

It really takes a while for these types of shows to "hit their stride". I think Kimmel will be just fine in a year. The question is will he get the chance.

Conan still isn't good :) One of Kimmel's gimmicks is that their will be a new co-host every week. I think through the first two shows, Snoop has been the high point. I did think that their spin of the Blizzard Monday was funny. Hopefully they put it together quickly, very quickly.

Conan kicks ass. He's MUCH better than Leno or Letterman. Too bad I've been having trouble staying up to watch Late Night. It's been the news, then Seinfeld on syndication, and lights out. :(

You can watch the previous night's Conan on Comedy Central in the early evening if you can get that channel.

Ahh yes, Comedy Central. I have watched the reruns on CC before (admittedly, I had forgotten about this when I made my post). Usually if I'm watching TV from 6-7 PM, it's the news and the Simpsons. I'll try harder to remember that I can watch Conan too! Of course, a good Simpsons episode trumps all!

I've always been a fan of late-night TV. My first impression, after watching Sunday's show and the opening to Monday's: it's not good... yet.

It's also not painfully bad, like Chevy Chase (or Pat Sajack, or Magic Johnson). I'd say it's similar to the early days of Conan. If ABC has the patience to stick with it, I could see it really working. Whether that will happen, who knows.

I like Kimmel. I think he'll be fine once he settles in.

I watched last night's show and it had some pretty funny moments and some really, really bad moments. Kimmel seems really nervous and I am not sure if the live gimmick is worth having the host look this way. (At least if it was taped he could throw out something that is just awful. Don't Leno and Letterman do this all of the time?) I guess the live thing is supposed to mean anything can happen.

My one major gripe is the same gripe I have with Conan. While I think the Conan is much better than he was at the beginning of his career, he always seems like he is mugging for the camera. For instance, one of his guests will say something really funny and instead of genuinely enjoying it Conan will have to try to be funnier. It gets really annyoing when Conan has on somebody I like and the interview is all Conan one-liners. Kimmel seems sort of the same way. (Obviously this is only day 2) But he wouldn't let the Rock say two words and Al Michaels didn't get to finish any stories that he started. Maybe this is something that Kimmel will get better at, but he seems kind of like another camera hog. And this doesn't bode well for getting any guests outside of ABC.

I do have to give him the guest host thing. Snoop Dog cracked me up everytime he talked.

The only episode I saw was last night with The Rock, Al Michaels and some new rap star. (Fifty Cents?) At first, I wasn't that impressed and thought The Man Show was a lot funnier but the show started to grow on me the more it went on. Nothing more hilarious than watching Kimmel have Al Michaels recite the gangster rap lyrics of his guest. Snoop is no Andy Richter. :-p It's funny though to watch him crouch in his seat and only say something every once in a while. He's like a stoned Ed McMahon. :-D It's definitely a strange combination watching Kimmel and Snoop. The show has the same irreverance that The Man Show had, at least as much as they can do on network TV, so I'm going to stick with it. I agree with some of you, Conan is the king of late night comedy. Leno is stale, Letterman is what I watch before Conan but I'm going to give Kimmel a chance because I've always been a fan of his.

Monday night's show had me, along with a bunch of guys who were hangin out in my dorm room, cracking up.

(For those who didn't watch the show...Kimmel asks Snoop if he thinks OJ was innocent or guilty. Snoop, with eyes almost puffed up closed, doesn't respond...)

Kimmel: Snoop, you're still on the drugs aren't you?

That had us all dying...I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Snoop on the show full time.

That being said, last night's episode was pretty bad. That ghost lady was just not funny and WAY too long. It's a learning process though...

I enjoyed Monday night's show as well. My favorite part was when he interviewed 50 Cent. Kimmel says: "You've got 2 singles out right now, In Da Club and Wangsta. Are they trying to get as much material as possible out while you're still alive?" I just about lost it right there.

Then, Al Michaels starts, well, singing the lyrics to How To Rob, and it was just the most painful thing to watch. But over his shoulder you can see the Rock looking at him like he was a crazy man, it was too funny! And 50 Cent was really cool with it, here is this old white man just butchering his lyrics and he played right along with him, sort of trying to save him from a very embarassing moment.

I think the show has lots of potential. Kimmel looks really nervous but he had 4 or 5 one-liners that just threw me out of my chair (including the aforementioned "You look like you're back on the drugs" line to Snoop). If ABC gives it time, I think it can work.

I also caught last night, and found it almost painful to watch. I was just embarrased for him how poorly everything seemed to go. He'd often talk to people off-camera who WE couldn't hear, he'd bumble every sentence he tried to speak, and they would jump from one thing to another without the slightest semblance of segway.

He looked and sounded nervous beyond belief, while Snoop geniuely has some great presence and would add some funny remarks here and there.

Heh. Although it would be nice to not see the commercials with this being the case - it took me until Tuesday to find this out, after watching the local news, etc, until 1am on Sunday and Monday waiting for it before I went in search of info.

Am I the only person that finds Kilborn funny at all? I watch his show over Conan's just because it's different than Leno and Letterman. There are more seemingly interactive things. And "In the News" is a la the Daily Show. I want to give JKL a chance, but I have to stay up until 12 to do so, usually not a problem, but it can be when you have school the next day and you've been tired as hell for the past semester and you want to try getting sleep.

I f*cking hate Kathy Griffin. The fact that she's on that show just lowered my opinion of both Kimmel AND the Sports Guy. Her appearance on that one Seinfeld episode almost forced me to stop watching Seinfeld on general principle. Almost. But I've only seen 5 minutes of that one episode.

Who's next, Fran Drescher?

I don't know if they have a contract for X number of shows, but if they don't, Jimmy Kimmel Live won't last another 2 weeks. It is truly terrible. I'm sure they are already scrambling for replacement programming. He just isn't good enough on his own.

It says something when you have to schedule a Celebrity Mole contestant as your guest-host in week 2. I'm assuming Carolla wasn't brought in right away so that Kimmel could have the chance to show he can make it "on his own."

I'm still giving it a chance. Yes, it's bad. All talk shows are bad when they first debut, because there's very little you can do to prepare for hosting a show like this (not to mention that A-list guests only want to do "established" shows).

I've been following late night talk shows since the mid-80's, and the only host who's ever seemed comfortable right off the bat was Leno (who, of course, had already been doing it for years as quest host).

You may or may not think Kimmel is funny (I happen to, but it's up for debate). But even brilliant guys like Miller and Chris Rock struggled badly early in their hosting careers. Most shows fail because the networks don't stay with it. NBC understands the late night game, which is why they let Conan find his feet even though his show was awful early on. Now they're reaping the reward. We'll see if ABC has the patience to do the same.

Personally, I don't watch any late night shows. I tried Kimmel's for the hell of it and he reminded me why I don't waste my time with them.

I would much rather waste my time with Simpsons, SouthPark, Seinfeld, and FarScape.

I think my biggest distate is the average Hollywood type is so far to the left that I can't stand watching them spew forth garbage. I can watch C-SPAN to see liberals spewing half-truths and nonsense. ;-)

I never get home early enough to watch Kimmel or Conan or anybody for that matter, but I have seen Kimmel's shows, and I think some of his guest co-hosts are better than he is. There are some funny ass shows on now with the Dave Chappelle show and Doggy fizzle telivizzle. I saw the New Tom Green show and he's lost his touch, he's not even allowed to go out and screw with people on the streets like he used to.

The New Tom Green Show is definitely a disappointment. Why did they change the format? What was so great about the old show was the crazy antics.. No one wants to watch Green interview celebrities on stage, we already have god knows how many different shows out there that do that.
