No recreational drugs? Doesn't chemo take the hair away? A co-worker in his 40's I knew had throat cancer. It took his hair and he did not age like this.

I'll bet recreational drugs have played a part. But hair will re-grow once the treatments have ended. My guess is that chemo played a bigger role than recreational drugs but I am not an expert by any means.
