Today I waited on a guy named Jonathan Tobias. He was very old (at least 60). I know back in the day, I had somehow figured out that Tobias lived right near where I grew up, but had forgotten it until I took this guy's credit card for payment. Since I moved back here, I think I just waited on his dad.
Weird.

It could have been our Jason Tobias...was his credit card basically a piece of cardboard with butterfly wings attached and a scratch-and-sniff picture of Mickey Rooney eating an ice cream sundae on the back where the magnetic strip usually is?

You should have asked him if he was related to Jason, and if he was asked him to tell Jason that FOFC misses him...

When I was playing World of Warcraft one day, I ran into a guy named "jasontobias". I had forgotten out our Jason Tobias until later and wondered if he was the same guy that used to come here.

Definitely. We still get our Fritz fix periodically, but we could use some more Tobias as well.

I was tempted to...but I always have issues with butting into the personal life of my customers.

Unless they are hot of course.......right?

Then they pass beyond the realm of 'customer' and into the realm of 'close personal friend.'

Yep, that "angry young man" speech to Dave Dial was probably the best post in the history of FOFC.

Man, he was an original GM in my OOTP league...took the Expos (when they were uber-crappy) to the top of the East. Renamed all his minor league teams something stupid, like "Ottowa Sex Exchange" and tried to convince me to have a ketchup-flavored chip day put into the promotion file. I'd still take him back though.

But yeah, where'd he go? The last time I saw him was right before we started up IHOF.

I know that. But the use of the Styx lyrics in a question to Dial, amidst all of the other bizarre, stream of consciousness commentary, was brilliant. It was so off the wall, yet perfect for the situation, that it worked.

Actually, to clarify, he named his minor league affiliates:
Compton Posse
Neverland Ranchers
Seoul Train
And his manager was Captain Eo.

My goodness. You just dredge up a few long-lost vacation memories for me. I'm not too sure I should be happy about that considering the subject matter.... :)

I always wondered what happened to him. The ice weasels quote has stuck in my mind and I fear will never leave. There was a poster on the Missouri sports board once that spouted zany things out of thin air and I wondered if they were related. It was during a heated exchange over private schools vs public, and out of the blue came something to the affect of:
"YEAH....And one day you wake up and everything has changed. You think you have got it good and the next thing everything is back to the same thing. You find yourself teaching algebra to sixth graders in those little trailers behind the school, and that isn't helping no one. I mean geesh!"
I love strange nonsense like that. People went from cussing each other to Whaaa? Except for a few that tried to make sense of it and actually tried to argue with his post making me laugh even harder.
