This is great news! Now we have a top flight RB to get stuffed behind our crappy offensive line!

Warner said on ESPNNEWS yesterday that staying in Arizona was because he saw them doing what the Rams did years ago, changing people's perceptions about the team. I don't suspect he'll go there and stink up the joint and Warner said himself that they needed to do something with the O-Line.

Holy crap... that team is no loaded on offensive skill position! Though it does seem a bit early to give up on Arrington, but oh well.
Though you wonder what the Colts are going to do to replace him.

So what is Indy going to do? Make Rhodes their #1 back?

I kept on hearing last year that Arrington did not show really any desire or fire. That seem to piss off coach Green a lot. From what I have seen, he had all season to step up and he didn't. And as coaches and scouts say, usually if a running back is going to be successful, it starts in his first year. Of course there are some examples of running backs starting with the cardinals and then leaving and having productive careers.

So what is Indy going to do? Make Rhodes their #1 back? If they can resign him. If I remember correctly, he's an FA.

They may have to go hard after Jamal Lewis... if they have the money.

Lewis doesn't seem like a good fit at all for Indy. They want a guy who can catch and block, Lewis isn't exactly known for either.

One more thought, I would love to be the under on his rushing yardage if it's anything over 1,300.

Colts don't buy much in the FA market; Simon was an anomaly. Smart money says that Rhodes will be cut (he's not a FA, but is due a $1.5m roster bonus soon), and the Colts will draft a running back early. Hopefully they will play the secondary FA market and land a solid 3rd down back as well, having a Verron Haynes or a Kevin Faulk would give a rookie RB a nice cushion.

I read somewhere that the Cards' projected starting OL will be the biggest in the league. Obviously that doesn't necessarily translate to "good" but a guy like James could have some decent success there.

Doesn't Arizona have a new stadium this season?

Yes...they want to have some sellouts, so we can see the games here in Phoenix...Signing Edge will help sell tickets and hopefully help win some games. A win-win for the Cards...

Hopefully for the Cards, they take a few offensive linemen in the draft. They've gotten some defense and offensive help in free agency, but I don't think Green is going to use pick #10 to take Joseph of Oklahoma or Justice of USC.
I dont know much about the Cards defense, and from what I hear their OLine isnt all that great, but it will be interesting to see what other moves they make. Looks like they might win a few games this year and surprise some. Either way it looks like they are headed in the right direction.

I think they are headed in the right way. Seattle aside they play in a week division. Maybe a solid running game takes preassure from the passing game and free's up that awesome wide receiver core.

The Cards have some pretty big "Ifs" this season, but i think if Edge and Warner both stay healthy, that they can go 9-7 at least. They'd still be wise to move up for a QB in the draft, especially if they like Cutler.

And we all know how overrated Seattle is.

They have a few really good young guys on the D - Dansby, Wilson, Dockett; and Rolle could be good as well. From the little we caught over here they seem to be a win or bust D - make a few big plays but get caught out a lot as well.
It's interesting, like when they signed the corner from Baltimore (Duane Starks?) it was going to be the birth of a new Cards, serious contenders. Never happened that time, but if they can get some guys to help out on the O-Line, this time could be different (See! They're getting me drawn in this time as well :) )

Could the Colts have their eyes on D'Angelo Williams?

I think the Cards should have used moving into the new stadium to introduce a new nickname. Cardinals was cool when both STL teams had the name, but i don't think there are too many Cardinals in Arizona. There are, however, a nice amount of dangerous predatory animals from the area that they could have chosen as a mascot, instead of giving the bird slanted back eyes and a different sized mouth.

They'll probably have to trade up to get him.

Yeah, the Cards seem to make some serious moves very so often and appear to be headed in the right direction, but it never works out. They have a built-in 'stink' factor that seems to mitigate anything good actually happening on the team. Remember last year a lot of people were picking them as the 'sleeper' team to steal the NFC West.
I've been a Cards fan for over twenty-five years now, so I have reason to be pessimistic.

I'm so glad my beloved Cards will have a running game this season. But they HAVE to get some O-line help for the James signing to really pay off. I'd love to see them get LaVar Arrington to help with the defense too. Watch out for Rolle next season. He was impressive before getting injured. I was hoping they go after Cutler in the draft, but with Warner signing a three year contract, I doubt they go QB in the first round. Not when they should have been going QB in the first round for a while now.
