I'm looking for a good pop-up ad stopper (free is VERY preferable), and also a security program ala Zone Alarm. I'd go with zone alarm again (this is a new computer), but it definitely slowed down my system a ton when running.

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Pop-Up Stopper by Panicware kicks ass. Makes espn.com actually viewable again. I've been using ZoneAlarm for two years on everything from a K6-2 266 with 64 MB RAM to a 2.5ghz P4 with a gig of ram (and bout 5 or 6 machines i between) and I never noticed any noticeable slow down. If you really want to avoid using system resources for the firewall, I'd look into a cheap wired cable/DSL router that will act as a defacto firewall.

For it'd be rude to disappoint DD . . . y'know, Opera and Mozilla both have popup stopper! :)
