She Who Must Be Obeyed

I have very much enjoyed lurking from time to time in the past and don't post much as I seem to suffer from cyber shyness. However, I can't help myself this time as I am very curious about screen names...some are obvious, but others seem like they would have a good story behind them. Thought I would go ahead and ask thus sparring my hubby, SkyDog, with the repeated question "Do you know why his screenname is such and such?" My apologies if this has been asked before.

On my end, it just seemed natural as that is apparently how Ben has referred to me from way back. I would like to go on record as stating that I have learned all my dictatorial ways from the master. ;)

Also, while I am here...just want to say that I must give mad props to the intelligent humor on this board (never thought I would get to talk about intelligence in a sentence that contained the phrase "mad props". That was fun). And thank you for the entertaining read in the Maximum Football thread!

In all honesty, when i was 5 i was(and still am) way into hockey. At the time my father asked me to pick a AOL SN...so we deduced blade from the blade on a hockey stick. Its not from the damn wesley snipes movies, i had my name before those were made. 6119 was my bus number at the time for school. As i grew up, it stuck with me. Thank you for your time.

Mike Vick is my favorite NFL player n' stuff.

Now I don't care about the NFL as much as I once did and so that kinda leaves me in my own purgatory. College football is where it's at.

I think mine is pretty obvious.

I should say that I USED to be a Dodgers fan until the O'Mally's sold the team; I don't really care for them much anymore. I used the name so much that it just kinda stuck now.

My roommate in college had my same first name, so I was always Goody. Of course there were the jokes- Goody-two-shoes, Good-for-what, and my favorite, up-to-no-Good. Being from Indiana, I choose Hoosiergoody. And yes, for the record, I do know hoosmy mommy and daddy...

My username came from when I forgot the password to my original nick that I used on the fbbgames.com forums, which was Goose. I no longer had access to the e-mail account that was attached to it, so I created a new profile. I happened to be listening to the Primus track 'Groundhog's Day' at the time, so I chose that. I came across a link to the FOFC from those forums so I decided to keep the same username on both forums.

Back when I was living in Denver one of the newspapers there ran a comic strip that had a character named Wilberforce. Well, for some reason my older brother decided that I reminded him of this Wilberforce character and bastardized my first name (Jeremy) with Wilberforce to come up with Jeeberforce (and why Jeeberforce instead of Jerberforce or Jeremyforce is beyond me).

Well, Jeeberforce stuck with me for a few weeks. Then it started to mutate. One day my brother called me Jeeber instead. And that got changed to Jeeber D Mack for some reason. Then that got shortened to Jeeber D. Jeeber D stuck with me pretty well, but even that has mutated into Jeebs, Jeebers, and JeeberMonkey.

Anyways, when I first got on the internet I always went with JeeberDMack as my name. That got too long and cumbersome after a while, so now I go by JeeberD pretty much everywhere.

NoMyths. A few puns:

1) I'm a poet. Further, I cannot abide Greek mythology in poetry. Thus, a kind of mini ars-poetica.

2) Once upon a time there was a song called "No Myth" by Michael Penn, and since a) I liked the song; I was also in like seventh grade and b) his last name is my nickname (though minus the extra "n").

3) Something about the idea of troof, as it's called.

In the 90's Jari Rantanen was briefly a cult hero for Leicester City, my main sports team (closely followed by the Dolphins in support and false dawns, which explains my presence here) who was known as the Flying Finn. Ironic nickname of course - he was about 20 stone and had the aerodynamics of a breezeblock, and as he was not the standard football size, he had to have his shorts specially made. I had to think of a user name for the LC FC boards, and while drunk came up with this.

I'm an uncomplicated guy, and try and make life as easy for myself as possible, so use this now wherever I register (and, as I've found, where it fits).

It is nothing to do with Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls as someone once asked me, although it would probably reflect better on me if it was :)

In the mid-70s Detroit had a WFL team called the Wheels. Its QB was someone named Bubba Wyche and even though the team went 1-13 only to fold before the end of the first season they had pretty cool uniforms! But I guess the name should have been Bubba's Wheels to be more grammatically correct.

There was always an inside joke in our group of friends about one of our friend's dads, Pete Arena. The bet as we got older was to get personalized licensed plates that everyone would chip in for. Nobody had enough guts (if you even want to call it that) but in the early days of AOL I chose this as my screen name. After signing up for a few services using this handle I was kind of stuck with it. It is kind of embarassing to play in fantasy leagues with the man nowadays, but even worse is the website I use for my 6th grade class is a geocities account with panerd in the title. I have to explain that every year about 100 times.

Honolulu Blue and Silver are the colors of the mighty Detroit Lions. I find the color "Honolulu Blue" to be an apt color for the Lions because it's a ridiculous color for a football team and sort of typifies the Lions.

The underscore is there because when I signed up way back in the day, I was under the impression your screen name could only be one word. So, I added the underscore.

Now the underscore is all the rage. It's hip. It's cool. Some may consider it "so five minutes ago", but they would be wrong.

There's another "Honolulu Blue" (note: no underscore). He's a good guy, but I rarely see him around. He likes to write dynasties and is into poker. He also went to a silly university, so I feel sorry for him.

The actor is very, very gay.

Very, very?

I mean, is there a gray area? Aren't you either gay or you aren't?

Yes. And, track 3 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001X32/sr=8-1/qid=1143050033/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-4636549-8399018?%5Fencoding=UTF8). Funny thing is, I've never even listened to the whole album.

I think your are severly mistaken. We don't have anything strong enough to tow or push a larger vessel... Something you paddle in maybe, how about a canoe?

Well, you know, there is gay, and there is very gay, and then there is very, very gay, and then there is very, very, very gay. He's in the third level of gaydom.

I believe anyone who reaches that level also takes the name of Gay Gayerson.

Not that there's anything wrong with it;)

Owls are my favorite animal. Has something to do with the whole greek mythology, Athena, wisdom thing from WAY back in high school.
Never really liked all the glitter and glitz of gold so I chose the more conservative silver instead.

SplitPersonality1

SplitPersonality1 is my name because in almost every sport, I follow two teams.

Minnesota Vikings & Green Bay Packers
I grew up in Minnesota during the glory days of Fran Tarkenton & the Purple People Eaters and moved to Wisconsin back in 1980. Didn't really become a Packer fan until after college and started following the Pack in the late 80s.

Milwaukee Brewers & Boston Red Sox
I started following baseball when i moved to Milwaukee. We went to 20-30 games a year. I went to school in the Boston area, and we used to sneak into Fenway to see the Red Sox play. Seeing Clemons and Boggs in their prime at the the preimer parks in baseball would turn anyone into a Red Sox fan.

College Basketball: North Carolina & Marquette
College Football: Wisconsin & Northwestern (the 80s - shudder)

I was originally just "SplitPersonality". The "1" at the end of my name is there because I forgot my password to get onto FOFC and I didn't want to request it a second time. So I just created a new one.

Green Bay and Minnesota? That's an odd combination, following two rivals. I guess not as bad as maybe Green Bay and Chicago. ;)

Ah, I thought I rememberred there not being a 1 at the end of your name at one point.

Yeah, but it's about to get threadjacked. Of course, that's an honor in itself.

Anyway... my forum name is quite lame. I wanted to do a transformation of "Chris" which is what I go by when talking to Englishmen or Americans at work. And I wanted a number in it, for some reason. I wish I could go back in time and change it now.

This has been very enlightening. Thanks!

Starting to think (particularly after being exposed to the reality of an on-line memorial service in a MMORPG) that there is a whole new branch of psychology in the process of being born. (Scratching one's head) Is there something in the future of this for me if I come up with the analytical tool based on screen names??? Intesting... (Claims patent ;) )

P.S. Thanks for the many clarifications on how to say or "arrange" your name. It makes a big difference. Changes your whole persona. In that vein, loved Panerd's story.

(Edit: Ok...started with MMPRPG and somehow just knew that wasn't right. Go figure--the "on-line" trumps "player." Your ways are foreign to me.)

Honolulu Blue
03-24-2006, 08:45 AM

Taking them from back to front:

1) This is the "other" Honolulu Blue, or HB #2 as I'll occasionally refer to myself. That other guy? He's my evil twin, and he went to a university filled with smug jerks, but he seems to have made it out OK. I like him.

2) I haven't posted much lately because there hasn't been a lot to post about. It's been about 2 1/2 years since Jim released his last new game, and the vast majority of other topics aren't of enough interest for me to bother with. I've been in lurk mode the whole time, though, and I intend to stay.

3) My screenname has much the same story as that of my evil twin - I've been a Lions fan since the Jeff Komlo days.

4) Honolulu Blue is a gay name for a color, but the color itself I don't mind. The only really bad color for a football team I've seen used was the orange the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used until about 10 years ago.
