I went to a meeting last night, and it seems a little too good to believe...anyone familiar with it?

Sounds like you made your own CG company. :D

I wish...but I did find that this company was once Amway.

Ugh...stay away...far away. Those people are crazy and regardless of what they say, it's a pyramid scheme.

Many thanks, I knew I could get some lucidity into this. Amazingly, they don't shy away from stating that it is a pyramid scheme.

Yeah, but I bet they also say it's "legal".

you know, some years ago a guy I went to high school with called me out of nowhere. We were in the process of coming back to Canada but our main place of living was still in the States, so we (wife, kid and I) were staying at my parents. Anyway, he calls me, asks me if I had some free time an evening so he could entertain me about this great business opportunity. So he came and went all preachy to me about how great this crap was and all that. My parents were sitting in the living room laughing their asses off. We told him off and he's never called me since.

It is, because they do provide a product or service. It is still a matter of the bottom get screwed while the top makes money.

I went to high school with a kid whose parents were big into Amway. He stayed out of the whole deal until college when he decided to give it a whirl to make ends meet. Soon, he was spending more time with Amway than school, and I'm not sure if he dropped out. Fast forward to our 10 year HS reunion and he's there, looking all shaggy - long hair, jeans, etc. - but as happy as can be. Turns out he made enough money selling Amway - and more importantly signed up enough people who were selling enough Amway - to stop selling it altogether. He took some programming courses in college then got a job for a software company making video games. He lived in a huge house in California and basically works because his job was fun - he has all the money he'll ever need coming to him each month is a big fat Amway check.

He, too, by the way said Amway was all really creepy and didn't recommend the lifestyle.

So it's like every other company in America, right?

I would ask them why they don't go by Amway. Any company that has to hide behind another name doesn't sound too scrupulous.
