So, all of a sudden I'm getting a BSOD from nv4_disp which I'm assuming has to do with my video card drivers. I unistalled them and installed the newest ones, and it works fine for a few minutes then I get the BSOD and it reboots.

My card is a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra. Thanks for any help.

try going into your video card settings, and turning the acceleration all the way down. It sounds like a bad video card to me.

Sounds bad to me as well. Do you get any display artifacts or corruption, anything like that?

No. When the drivers are installed, it's fine while on my desktop and such, but when I go on the internet, like when a page loads, it freezes then I get the BSOD. The BSOD also says irql not greater than or equal to I think. Something to that effect.

That used to be a big deal with nVidia cards, but not any time recently. Have you changed anything else in the system? Any new hardware? If it's loading an Internet page, you might have a conflict between the video card and your network card. Have you checked for spyware or viruses?

I'd make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers as well.

Also try DriverCleaner (google) and wipe all traces of any old drivers from your system, then re-install the latest SHIPPING (not beta you found off some overclocker site) drivers for the nVidia card.

If none of that helps, you may well have a dead card.

Dola,:

Get rid of the GeForce FX hunk-o-junk and spend $120 or so on a GeForce 6600. If you need an excuse to spend the money, sounds like you've got it.

Yeah, I thought of that too, which I probably will do. But, now after another uninstall and reinstall it's been fine for about an hour.

Dola, and driver cleaner is what I used to uninstall... Seems to have worked for the time being.
