Well, I'm here pulling an all-nighter, baby-sitting a disaster recovery test for a customer of ours. Been up 22.5 consecutive hours so far with no real end in sight. Coffee anyone?

I'm in the same boat, except I am playing Oblivion, and not at work. Oh, I don't drink coffee either. :)

Neither do I :(

Wake up people, we just hit the 24 hour mark. Is this where I start faking the misspellings?

I did this the other night...except it wasn't a drill. Only lost one server, but since it didn't have a redundant counterpart, and its role was to manage the phone switch. It was a pretty important to get it back up and running asap.

this thread would be better if it was called "PING: Sober Guy"

After 24 hours you either begin hallucinating or get some real clarity and start solving all your (financial) problems. At least, thats how it worked for me.

So you hallucinated that you solved all of your financial problems? I usually hallucinate about the stuffed animals coming to life and trying to kill me

Paging the Dark Council.

By the grace of Lord Java, ruler of all things coffee, Defender of the Drug, King of Insomnia, I order the immediate execution of this infidel.

Bah. You Coffee Schismatics are all too intolerant, when we all know that the Holy Order of the Soda is true to the Great God Caffine's ineffable nature.

Up to hour 28 - still no end in sight. My feet and hands are melting into the floor tile. The family cat from my early childhood just made an appearance singing a medley of Juice Newton's greatest hits. I can't feel my right leg.

dude, don't kill yourself over this, I ended up taking a ride in an ambulance to the hospital one time due to an overdose of caffine, and lack of sleep (long story).. whatever it is, take a two-three hour nap and then you'll be able to finish

Did your cat dance?

Seriously, unless it is a matter of life or death, try to take a nap for a few hours.

I'd like to, but I'm one of the vendors - so it's really just not feasible at this time. I'll just slug some coffee and go home (eventually...someday).

Yay, finished as of hour #29! Wahoo!

For anyone in this sort of situation in the future I second calls for sleep clearing the mind and making things easier to finish - as a youngster I used to 'enjoy' stepping up the machismo challenge of all-nighters, even several on the trot (72 hours being my worst straight through) ... however as I've got more haggard I've realised that a little sleep makes you more productive in the long run than being practically comatose for a longer period ;)

Thanks, I would, but I had my car with me so I drove home (about an hour). The test was supposed to be from 11:30pm to 7am, but we got called in to be there at 10pm and finally left a little after 12pm today, 6.5 hours more than we thought it was going to take.

Took a 3 hour nap when I got home and now I'm "good to go" (not really).

Really glad to hear that you got home safely. I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight (or at least I hope you do.)

So with a Ping: Drunk Guy and Ping: Sober Guy thread, isn't there a need for Ping: Slightly Buzzed guy or maybe Ping: Shitfaced/High as Shit Guy?
