Promising less micromanagement than ever!! :D

They say the graphics have been streamlined, but looking at the screenshots, I'm not sure if I see it. Alas, they'll probably be getting my money, because if they tweaked enough things from Dom 2, and didn't go in too radical of a direction as far as new features, this could be a very good game.

Hrmm... I think I bought a game from Shrapnel many years ago. No clue what it was.
I don't think I've ever heard of these Dominion games, but this one sounds pretty cool. Any further insights on Dominion 2? Strengths? Weaknesses? My curiosity has been piqued!

imho dom2 is one of the greatest turn based games ever
multiplayer the game can really shine
single player even with know ai flaws i can still have a serious challenge with enough oppenents on a small enough map
the price put me off on it at first but after reading the forum i got it a couple months after release and it is/has been a great investment
there is a pretty steep learning curve when you first play the ai and another one when you play multiplayer but there are so many different "winning" tactics that you just keep coming back for more.

I just checked the archives and read Sach's old review of Dominions 2. Sounds great. I may have to pick this new one up.

Be sure and check the dynasty section as well, there were quite a few good ones. Even if most or all of them pettered out, it was still quite interesting to see how the game worked...

Not trying to flame but after playing the demo for Dom 2 I don't get it. Anyways the 54.99 price tag is a big turn off. The more realistic price would be $30-35 tops!

Is this game Real Time simmed or Turn Based? Looking at the screenshots, it appears to be RTS. However, I thought that I heard that this game was Turn Based. I'm not a big RTS sim fan (too much going on at once, freaks me out). But if it is Turn Based, I might consider buying it.

If it's like the last game, only the battles are "real time", but you have no control over the units. Basically you set the orders for your troops and watch 'em go. Can be sad at times... :)

Sounds good. I like those kind of games . . . as sad as they may be.

Anyone thinking of picking this up and getting an MP game of it going?

Why, is my standing offer of PBEM Combat Mission not good enough for you guys? Sheesh... :D
