Anybody played/are playing this? I'm only a few years off the bandwagon, but I picked this up a couple of days ago. I'm having really issues with it, though. For one thing, I can't seem to be to import leagues. I figured out I had to import OOTP 5.0 leagues, as 6.5 will not work. The problem is even the 5.0 leagues crash. I really would like to play with real players, so this is annoying. The other big annoying thing is your player sometimes ends up a Tweener" (not quite good enough to move up, but two good for where he is at), and the computer moves him up and down every day.

Anyway, anyone have advise on how to import a league with real players without crashing?

I know the one major issue with importing leagues was making sure all team owner controls are set to computer and you have no human owners.

Now that you went out and brought up ITP, you got me all going. Anybody remember this:

PS: Features that will see the light before ITP 2:
- More interaction (like interviews etc.)
- Some kind of Fan Favorite level (fans loving or hating you http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/images/smilies/wink.gif)
- Off season stuff like playing in winter leagues, or working to earn more $$ (important for minor leaguers) etc.
- And, as always, some surprises http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/images/smilies/wink.gif

That was from Markus, mostly in response to people bitching about how boring and pointless ITP was. Did I miss a patch when any of these things were implemented? My understanding is that the last patch was 1.03, which introuced a couple of showstopper bugs. After that, the project was abandoned and thrown under the bus.

I think my ITP experience is what really ticked me off even further about the advent of OOTP trying to force people to buy the 6.5 patch. First there was the H2H promise in OOTP that was never provided, then there was the abandonment of ITP, then there was a paid patch to OOTP 6. I'd have had a lot more respect for Markus et al if they lived up to their word or had made a gesture of some sort, like offering people who bought ITP a free copy of the 6.5 patch or a coupon for future purchases.

I guesses it's another example of buyer beware. Don't get me wrong, OOTP is a fine product -- ITP was pure garbage, however -- but it amazes me that there are so many loyal fanboys of that game considering how many times we've been dicked around.

I'll be the first to admit I hold grudges on things like this, so I'm probably not a typical consumer. I still hold it against Arlie that I felt like certain promises were made with Coaching A Dynasty that were never fulfilled and then he took the remaining features that were promised and not delivered and stuck them into TDCB an tired to get more money from the CAD buyers.

I realize it's capitalism, but if you treat customers like that eventually it will haunt you.

I tried the demo and it didn't do anything for me way back when. The career mode in MLB 06 The Show is the first time I've ever been so immersed in a sim like that before.

Well, I happened to like ITP, and I ain't no OOTP fanboy. I will admit that it is a limited game and had the potential to be a lot better. But I keep telling myself I'll get back to it someday... someday... and eventually I will, I'm sure.

The only suggestion I'd make to Mr. GrantDawg is to scan the OOTP boards for threads on this, if they still exist.

I played it way back in the day and it just didn't grab me like I'd hoped.

Thank you. That is most likely the problem. This game does have a lot of bugs. It is really disappointing that Marcus wouldn't have stayed on this project until it was fixed. It doesn't worry me too much about the next version of OOTP though, since SI is involved.

Yeah, I'm much more optimistic about OOTP BM thanks to SI than I would be if this was just another Markus et al production. I probably wouldn't get it unless I had to for my online league.

The disappearing act on ITP was very disappointing and surprising. The last version introuced some annoying bugs, although I think the call up/send down/change roles bug was only impacting continued leagues from the previous patch. But they just flat out disappeared -- stopped answering questions on the forum, stopped responding completely.

Is that were they "call" you 15 times a day? No, that still happens. Annoying as crap.

Yep, that's the bug. D'oh!

Count me as another disappointed ITP customer. Not that he cares, but I was really disappointed in Markus' effort on that one.

I think that with the failure of ITP there is still a huge untapped market for a game like that on PC. Considering that we can't play MLB The Show. Seems like it'd be a natural niche for a text sim, as the graphics wouldn't really be "needed" as I'd think people would rather visualize themself in the game rather than see a graphical representation of themself.

Why in the heck couldn't they have at least ported that to the PC? I have a PS2, but I hate fooling with it. I just let my daughter have it.

No kidding. I had last years version, but it was so buggy. Because it was on the console, no hope for a patch.

Uh maybe because the deal 2k has with MLB wont allow them to release it on the PC? and what other games made by sony have been released on the PC?
