Well.......they are inducing my wife 3 days past her due date due to blood pressure issues. I hope all goes well.........I am really nervous, it's my first. And I hope it's quick. Hopefully I'll have some good news to bring to the board in the next couple of days.

Good luck! Which hospital are you going to be at? We were at St E's for our last one, and it went well. I hope the induction is worlds easier than what my wife went through with her first. But that is another story, for another time.

Good luck!

Don't be afraid to question the doctors... they're not gods... if something seems outta whack, raise hell.

wow, that came out of nowhere... Not every birth goes wrong you know

Anyways cougarfreak, here's hoping everything goes smoothly today! :)

My wife was induced twice as both our sons felt way too good in there and didn't want to come out. The good thing about them is being able to drive to the hospital in some sort of calm and peace without your wife taking deep breaths besides you ;)

I wouldn't suggest raising hell as FN does (as that would be counterproductive), but I would recommend asking questions if they come up or something is concerning you. Good luck tomorrow :)

My experience is that doctors tend to take advantage of their patients' ignorance when it suits their purposes -- such as talking a patient into a cheaper or easier procedure, etc.

No offense, EF27... but you can't deny that it happens, especially within the ever-cheapening world of managed care.

and I'm not questioning the fact that it probably happens, but why bring it that way when cougarfreak is about to live the happiest day of his life? I saw no need for it.

Still hoping we'll hear soon about a little freakie cougar :) (was posted yesterday, so today is tomorrow ;))

Sure, there are bad doctors out there. There are plenty of good doctors who wouldn't do that, and who put their patients first. I'm one of them. However, even with a bad doctor, "raising hell" is not a good strategy. I do agree that questioning things is a good strategy. However, as FM said, this doesn't really belong in this thread. I hope it all goes well tomorrow.

Sorry... I wasn't trying to rain on the parade... honestly. I've just seen first-hand a few instances where doctors will bust out forceps on a baby's skull rather than go caesarean, etc., just because it's quick, easy, and cheap. That bugs the hell out of me.

everything went great! Little Mary Karen was born at 6:31 PM on 4-20, 6lbs. 12 oz, my wife went into labor on her own at 3:30 in the morning. How do you attach phots? I can't seem to figure it out.

My kid was yanked out with forceps. You think an invasive procedure likea c-section is inherently better than that? You smokin' sumpin.

It depends, but the forceps are dangerous in the hands of someone who is not properly trained. My brother almost died at birth because of it. Many hospitals now use suction rather than forceps for this reason.

Franklinnoble

I'm not going to rain on this thread anymore. Suffice it to say, there are MANY instances where a c-section is a much better alternative to forceps. We can debate it elsewhere if you really like.

I'm just happy that cougarfreak's baby was born healthy, beautiful, and without incident. :D
