The 199 PSP doesn't come with a Memory Card I believe. So you'd still be looking at 270ish if you get a gig card. I guess that's cheaper than adding that gig card to a 250 dollar psp unit though.

That's a hell of a lot for a tiny FM box.

Too bad the PSP is not 129. I would pick one up in a heartbeat.

I bought a 1GB card for my PSP recently for $30 online. They are typically about $50, but you can find them on sale occasionally.

Must have been a recent price drop then, as I thought they were more like 70-80.

Yep, in the last couple weeks the typical price seems to have dropped from the $70 price range to the $50 price range. A few place still have it at the higher price, but most of the online places have it around $50 now. If you look around for some of those discount codes and stuff you can get one pretty cheap now.

Yes, I have one. Sometime this year they are supposed to release the 4 and 8 GB sticks.

*shamelessly plugs the DS and its price of $129 and that includes a game at most places*

*head explodes* Ok, I'm better now :D

Man, this is the thing that just kills me about the gaming media and electronic gaming media in general. It sells better than the PSP in all three global regions (North America, Japan, Europe) but still people don't know about it despite an infinitely superior game lineup, cheaper price, and better sales. Ok, so maybe not infinitely superior as the number of PSP games worth playing is no longer 0 but it's not good while the DS has a lot of highly rated and fun to play games. Never mind that it's reverse compatible and can play GBA games, too. But since it's not as "sexy" looking (read: fragile), Sony gets the press.

Here was a feature I wrote for Gamenikki for games this past December:
http://www.gamenikki.com/g3/features/Frank.php?id=1

Since then, there have been Metroid Prime: Hunters (an online FPS), Tetris DS, Brain Age (a brain training "game" that has sold nearly 2 million in Japan), and Age of Empires DS. And that's with a new Mario side scroller built from the ground up due out in a couple of weeks that looks excellent and a Pokemon and Zelda already announced.

SI,

Don't let your head explode over my ignorance. Consoles and handhelds are very fringe in my world. For me to even be interested, I'd probably have to be given one. So my lack of knowledge here is probably not typical for the 34 year old male.

Sach, I think the believability of your lack of knowledge is what pushes him further towards that -- I don't think you are an exception in any way shape or form.

Yeah, Vince hits the nail right on the head. For external reasons that escape me, casual fans know about the PSP but not the DS.
