View Full Version : WARNING, CHICK POST: Cleaning Has Never Been So Much Fun!

EDIT: I had to add the warning because this sounds like a typical chick post.
*********************************************************
As we're finishing boxing stuff and loading the truck, I dreaded the cleaning part of our move. Our son had written on the walls with crayon and I knew I'd spend a good amount of time attempting to wash those off.
I received a "Magic Eraser" sample in the mail and kept it for several months. My co-worker raved about it so I finally gave it a try today. Let me tell you guys, that thing wiped the crayon off the walls like magic! I was so involved with cleaning the walls and the kitchen that I didn't realize Antmeister had called me; I was really into it.
Houdini must of invented this thing because it truly is magical. I'm curious to see what it does to the stove and the bathroom.
I'll keep you guys posted.

did anybody else suddenly have a flashback to the whole viral marketing thing? "Build up credibility in a community, then suddenly promote a product"?
Sorry, Dodgerchick, not picking on you intentionally, but that was the first thought in my head. :)

my wife loves those magic eraser things...they do not however get ball point pen out of the solid wood table top....sandpaper was needed for that.

Hahaha, sure you weren't
I considered posting it like one of those infomercials with picture and everything:
"Ever feel like this when cleaning your kitchen?"
http://www.fotosearch.com/comp/SPS/SPS117/1042R-9755.jpg
"Do you have grease burned on the top of your stove? There's not enough elbow grease to clean that mess! Well now, with 'Magic Eraser', cleaning is effortless!! Just wipe gently and the crud comes right off... like magic!"
Or something like that. It's a terrible try at a commercial, I know. Maybe I should just keep my day job. No wait a second, I don't have one  :D
The magic eraser is a gift from the gods.
Damn straight it is! It's usually a pain in the behind to clean our stove but a couple of wipes kept it looking like new.
If anyone is interested in buying one, it looks like this:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000BAV90O.01-AK0ZM7RBMAG9B._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
I suggest buying the kind that has the blue back since the white part rubs off once it gets used up.
So, ahem. I'm selling them for $0.50 per sponge... anyone interested?
Heh, just messing with you SA  :p :D
No, I'm not selling them.

You can find some on Amazon and Ebay. However it would be from the US site. I don't know how much they would charge for VAT.

We are just about to buy this because just before the kids moved out of our new home, they managed to get some stray crown marks on the wall in their bedroom.

Ink out of wood? Try this next time:
Get the cheapest hair spray you can find. Aqua Net is pretty good for this purpose. spray it and let it set for ten seconds. Wipe down.
Not a perfect solution, but for anything but valuable family heir looms, it works well.

Thank you, but I think it has brainwashed me as well. I kept walking around the house amazed at what it could clean to where I kept trying out different areas around the apartment to clean. I would then talk in a robotic monotone voice and say, "Magic Sponge, destroy the grime". Yes I know its called Magic Eraser, but it just didn't sound right. Anyways I stayed up until 2 in the morning cleaning different rooms until I realized that the sponge was brainwashing me. There has to be some kind of drug in that sponge and I still can't figure out how it works. I am convinced that sponge is made from "human beings". Much like SOYLENT GREEN.

As it happens, I work with a restoration company. We handle odor issues all the time, along with fire and water losses.
I talked to our techs and they came up with a couple of things:
1) To attempt to mask the smell, try a product called Big D Odor Control Fogger. It's in a can, comes in different sents and can be used as necessary to "cover up" the odor. That'd be about $10 a can.
2) If you want the odor gone for good, with no questions asked, you need to set up an ozone machine. The upside is in an hour or two the ozone will have killed all of the enzymes producing the smell. The downside is you cannot be in the house when this is happening. In fact, it may be good to be away for a night. The ozone is dangerous for any living creature. It will also cost you between 100 and 200 bucks to have a professional do it for you. The last upside in this is that the franchise is now responsible for helping remove the odor and if the ozone doesn't take care of it, they can try other things.
Good luck.

We'll have to try those magic erasers. We actually bought that Sherwin Williams paint that is supposed to be washable, but haven't really had any marks on the walls in the two rooms we've used it on so far. Our problems are on the walls that still have the original paint..

Also in Cinci.
Have you ever read the article "death of the proctoids"? interesting read... article from the London times in '98 about John Pepper and how he changed us from white shirts & ties to business casual and "approachable"
