Tsunami warnings issued for Fiji and New Zealand after earthquake measuring a magnitude of about 8.0 shakes southern Pacific Ocean.

Was just about to post this. It evidently hit about 80 miles south of Tonga. Not a lot of places to hide for those people. Hawaii is now on the alert list for the possible tsunami as well.
edit: evidently, it hit right in the middle of several Tongan islands, some south, some north of the epicenter.

That's some scary stuff, hopefully the people get to safety. If anything "good" came out of the last one, i would hope it to be more awareness that these things are not a joke.
Did anyone else catch that interview with the American visiting Tonga. It was over the phone and she said they felt the quake and nothing has been done about it. She stated that nobody from the hotel has said what happened or that there is a tsunami warning. She said that power was out for the most part and that the hotel was probably running on generators. The way she made it sound is that she still had no idea there was a tsunami warning, although i'm sure the people from CNN must have let her known.
