View Full Version : When do you feel the most vulnerable?

I am a very paranoid person by nature, and I find that I get really creeped out in certain situations. For example, I can't stop looking over my shoulder in the shower, and I try not to close my eyes when shampooing. I also get really jittery when walking to/from the car in the dark.

What things make you the most paranoid?

I've already told you not to worry about this -- it's actually kind of sexy.

I have a very active imagination, so it's rather easy for me to freak myself out a little late at night after my wife has long since gone to sleep. We also have cats, who get more active in the dark and can make some weird but soft noises.

Being outside in the dark, I mean like pitch dark, no street lights, no nothing.

And while my shower paranoia doesn't seem to be as bad as yours, I'm not real crazy about taking a shower when I'm the only person home.

For me it's situations where I have to walk for a decent distance (i.e. more than 100 ft. or so) in a poorly lit area at night when I know there are other people potentially around.

The two specific examples I can think of: Camping and going to the latrine and taking the trash to the dumpster when I lived in an apartment.

Probably whan I've got the binoculars out looking at the next door neighbor. Her bushes aren't big enough to hide me from her view and from view of the street.

I probably would feel very vulnerable walking in a poorly lit area in a bad part of town, but since it never happens, I feel most vulnerable when being outside around the house, late at night and I can smell the stink of a skunk. Seriously...

Hey, I grew up in a tiny farming town south of Kalamazoo, MI, and I can tell you that cows aren't as sweet as they look.

I'd say I feel most, when I'm driving, because some dumbass prick that shouldn't be driving in the first place might crash into me and do harm to my fiancee.

When I'm in the shower I always start thinking about horror movies for some reason and then every sound the cats make freaks me out.

I never claimed that I wasn't strange.

Yeah, I didn't think of that one. Have to have my back to a wall when I wear them.

You know what, I wish I had put that in there. I am terrified of swimming in a body of water that I can't see the bottom of.

Good one. Swimming in the ocean really doesn't bother me, but I HATE swimming in lakes. Lord knows how many dead bodies are down there!

That really should have been option. Since it wasn't available, I went for the trout.

I chose "while sleeping", but the more correct way to put it would be, "when trying to fall asleep".

When I'm swimming in open water or the times I've driven with my temps during my repeated attempts to get my license.

I just freak out every time I get behind the wheel.. I hate it. And I'm always paranoid something's going to bite me or poison me or something when I'm swimming in open water.

Well, until today my most vulnerable time was walking in the dark, but now it's anytime I picture you watching Schmidty look over his shoulder in the shower. That's going to scare the hell out of me for a while.

I feel the most vulnerable when my 4 year old is not making noise during the day. I know that he's doing something and it freaks me out.

Headphones is the only one out of those that I could really imagine feeling vulnerable. Especially when flogging the bishop. You really need to be able to hear those footsteps!

I said Shower, but when I read the swimming where I can't see the bottom option. I'd have to include that one.

Also being at pretty much any height..I feel like I might suddenly find myself plunging over the edge.

You are walking through the subway system of some major city--it's noisy, and bustling, and everything seems normal.

Then, you turn to walk down some corridor, and suddenly it's dead quiet. You've only gone about thirty feet, yet everyone's gone. All you can hear are your own footsteps-and then one other set of footsteps besides yours. And that's when you start to think that YOU ARE BEING SET UP...

This happens almost every day.
