I recently saw a preview of this on one of my new DVDs and thought it was interesting. I knew a few people from my days on the beaches of North County that grew up in OC in the 70s and likely could have known any of z-boys. Anyone here like this movie and is it worth getting?

I thought it was a very well done movie - I went in with no real care for skateboarding or any knowledge of the story yet stayed interested throughout. Solid acting and a very good soundtrack to give it the right feel.

It's on Starz tomorrow, so I'll watch it sometime this weekend.

But the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys is excellent.

I would agree with this, in that I don't have any knowledge/interest in skateboarding, but I really thought it was a well done movie. I'm sure if you have any interest in that era (mid-to-late-70s, I believe) and/or area, you will enjoy it.

I wonder if the movie will mention the millions of dollars in property damage skateboarders did from the late 70's to the mid 80's?

I can't stand this glorification of this "sport" when, for the most part, people who skateboarded at that time were nothing more than juvenile delinquents.

They were old surfer dudes before they got into skateboarding.

Get lost, square ;)

I ordered Lords of Dogtown from ,"Paper View" as I call it, one night. I fell asleep rather quickly, but what I will say is that the late Mitch Hedberg is in it, so I'm down with it;.

I'm batting .1000 so far this week. My nephew (who's an avid skateboarder) called me "old man" when I said skateboarders are punks. Now I'm going after Chief Curmudgeon. Rock!

Who's got the Chief hat right now? I want to see my competition. :)

Yeah, find the documentary. I found the movie almost unwatchable because I had seen the documentary.

I agree the movie sucks after watching the documentary.
I have no interest in skateboarding but I thought the documentary was great.

The documentary is amazing. Probably one of my all-time faves. Haven't seen the movie because I don't want to ruin how great the story is for me.

How so? Should I post a link to a listing of the damages that was done from the late 70's to the mid 90's that has been attributed to skateboarders? So, how am I pointing this out make me out to be what you said?

Why do you think a great majority of mid-to-large cities in the US have a ban on skateboarding on city streets?

Did you know that business owners lost $78-billion in productivity due to the internet last year?

And I would be willing to bet that some of that time was spent by people surfing to Skateboard sites. Break out the pitchforks!

Obviously there's a skateboard related incident in your past. Maybe a Christmas wish forgotten or a skateboarder stole your girlfriend in high school? Close to home, I know, but there's help here for you.
