I will be standing in line to buy this DVD box set, because I loved the show for the 1 year it was on. But, a hundred bucks for a series that lasted only 1 year seems insane.

I wish I could put my money where my mouth is, but I will probably even preOrder this bitch to boot.
A $100 for season 1 of a 1 season series is just not right, I tell you.:(

I guess it pays to pre order then. :)
Still, a $100 list price at Amazon is just plain crazy.
EDIT: Cool free shipping

About time. I was just bitching to some friends at work about that show not being on DVD.
I wonder what it'll be after my employee discount.

$100 for a box set of 8 DVDs is not expensive. It might seem that way since we are probably used to buying box sets of 3-4 DVDs for $40-$60.
Plus, 27 episodes is pretty much how long 2 seasons of an hour long show nowadays (the 24 being an exception now, rather than the rule. And they can't get around having 24 episodes can they? :) ). The Shield usually lasts 12 or so episodes per season, and those are listed at $60 per season.
Anyway, this will be a definate buy for me. I loved the show and I'm sure I haven't seen all of the episodes (probably only saw a dozen or so).

This is wrong. Most network shows are around 24 episodes per season. Unless it is some sort of Midseason replacement, or gets cancelled mid season.
Season One List Prices
$59.98 West Wing = 22 episodes
$39.98 ER = 25 episodes
$59.98 Law & Order = 22 episodes
$39.98 NYPD Blue = 22 episodes

It was about a group of girls going to school together. It starred Kim Fields, the woman from Different Strokes, a blonde, a fat girl and some guy with long hair...

I didn't say most network shows, I said most hour long shows. (I made reference to 24 for the simple fact that the number of episodes per season is quite obvious) Also, network shows can charge cheaper (per DVD) than cable shows because of they most likely sell a lot more sets.
I also made reference to the number of DVDs in the set for a reason. ER is a 4 DVD set (proably double sided = cheaper than 2 DVDs). Season 1 West Wing is also a 4 DVD set. ER and NYPD Blue are 6 DVDs. Plus, these sets have been out for awhile, so the price has inevitably come down. I can't think of one hour long cable show that lasts for more than a dozen episodes per season, and no one has a problem paying $60 for 3-4 DVDs for those (well maybe some people do). So what's $100 for 8 DVDs?
Another show I love in House MD. That set is listed at $60 and is only 3 DVDs (and I bought it the day it came out)
When the X-Files started coming out with DVD season sets, they were $100. They've been out for awhile, and the price has come down on them The same for all of the Star Trek seasons.

I think the main thing is this IS the entire series. They're reaching for the brass ring because they haven't got another six or eight or ten seasons' worth of DVDs they can release. They've got one season plus whatever extras, and that's that.

I can't think of one hour long cable show that lasts for more than a dozen episodes per season,
Babylon 5 22 episodes per season
Andromeda 22 episodes per season
Stargate 22 episdoes per season
Xena 24 episodes per season
Hercules 24 epsiodes per season
And, why are you calling Brisco County Jr. a cable show to begin with?
Edit: And, how could I possibly forget about Baywatch's 22 episodes per season?

You have a real problem understanding the word nowadays, don't you? (And I never called Brisco County Jr. a cable show. You need some reading comprehension lessons, WrongWay.)
You can list all of the shows you want, that's irrelevent to the point. Most DVD sets cost roughly $10-$15 PER DVD. Yes, the most popular shows can charge a bit less because they will sell a lot more. But for most shows, they will charge roughly $10-$15 per DVD. So $100 for 8 DVDs ($12.50 per DVD) is hardly "insane".

But it was this idiotic statement that made you and this price sound insane.

27 episodes is NOT 2 seasons worth of viewing. Most Network shows have 22 episodes per season....Correct?

No idea why this is so fricken' important to you....
I already gave you several examples. The X-Files and all of the Start Trek series (TNG, DS9 and Voyager) were all over $100 per season when they first came out and they were 7-8 DVDs each as well (and as I said, they've come down in price since they've been out for awhile. Again, learn to read.)
And, once again, totally irrelevent as I am talking about price per DVD. House MD is listed at $60 and is 3 DVDs ($20 per DVD). 24 is 7 DVDs and listed at $70 ($10 per DVD). The Shield is 4 DVDs for $60 ($15 per DVD). So $12.50 per DVD seems to be pretty acceptable.
As for the last bit....no, it's not.

A throw away hyperbole...

Correct, and irrelevent, as your first comment in that quote would be incorrect for many shows. Hell, for the Shield or The Dead Zone to name two series, that would be 2 seasons plus a few episodes.

Brisco County Jr. is NOT a cable show!!!
The Shield is a CABLE show, and The Dead Zone is a CABLE, but Brisco County Jr. is NOT a cable show. Brisco County Jr. was on a major network.

Well good for Brisco County Jr.....I guess. And you again ignore what my point is to begin with (again). The cost of this box set is in line with what a box set usually costs per DVD, even for your precious major network shows.
Do you always get this worked up every time someone makes a hyperbole? Always have to make a federal case out of it?

Swing and a miss for me on this one as I have no idea what you are talking about here.
But, you were correct about the X-Files, a major network show, having a list price of $99.98 for evey season. To me that is just insane.
