So the wife and I were busy Sunday night, so we recorded Grey's anatomy Sunday Evening. We planned on watching it Monday Night, and we did just that. The deal is at the very end of the Sunday episode they said, "stay tuned for scenes from the two hour season finale, tomorrow night." A quick look at our clock showed that it was 11:01. We were completely screwed.

Anyone here watch, and if so, would you be willing to give a brief summary of events?

To attempt a "brief" summary would be futile, but if nobody else comes through by the time I press "Submit" on this post, I'll give it a shot.

I'll be in your debt, and hopefully my wife will consider herself in mine ;)

My wife watched while I tried to ignore.

The heart dude proposed to the blonde then croaked ... much whiny crying from the blonde.

Something about a prom at the hospital.

Grey banged dr dreamy in the or room while her date and his wife waited.

At the end she was choosing whether to go home with Robin or the dr dreamy.

Dola, almost forgot: blonde chick quit her job at the end.

African American surgeon that got shot is ok, but has potential nerve damage that could jeopordize his career as a surgeon.

Okay, first of all, if you're a fan of the show (and I'm assuming you are, since you're asking), try and find it somewhere...torrent, iTunes, whatever, 'cause whatever I write here won't do it justice.

Here goes...

- Burke was shot in the shoulder, and his arm/hand might be paralyzed. He needs a delicate operation that Derek isn't completely confident performing.
- Izzy and George end up dragging everybody else (Meredith and Christina) into the room to deal with Denny and they try to rescusitate him.
- Webber's wife was chaperoning a prom for her neice, who had been previously diagnosed with cervical cancer. While in the process of losing her virginity at the prom, she passed out and was brought to the hospital by Webber's wife and the niece's friends.
- It's determined that the cancer has returned and the prognosis is not good.
- After the niece's friends call their schoolmates to come to the hospital, Webber kicks them out, saying he can't have a bunch of teenagers running around the hospital.
- Webber's wife gives him hell and reveals that she knew about his affair with Alice the whole time and stuck by him. Webber is privately floored by this.
- Bailey, searching for her interns, catches all four of them working on Denny. She does her screaming/intimidation routine, scaring them all out of the room except Izzy, who cares about little else than Denny. Bailey softens somewhat, but they get him revived and he mumbles something Izzy above the commotion about marrying him. Izzy isn't sure that's what he said.
- after consulting with Webber about the "hypothetical" situation about bumping somebody up the doner list, Bailey signs off on the tests.
- Karev takes the call and reluctantly informs Dr. Hahn, who had already begun operating on the heart for herself. With Burke on a gurney, Alex talks Hahn into coming with him and doing the heart surgery on Denny.
- All of the interns are brought before Webber to answer about the Denny situation. They all refuse to own up to it...or rather, they all say it was them, knowing that neither Webber nor Bailey can actually prove *who* cut the wire to Denny's heart.
- For their punishment, they are all assigned to Webber's niece -- no surgery under any circumstances -- and are tasked with throwing her a prom. In the hospital.
- Denny gets his heart and is alert and stable. Izzy checks on him, afraid of being caught by Bailey, and he repeats his marriage proposal. She leaves the room without a word.
- The group interrogation having been futile, Webber questions the interns separately. They all rebuff him. Meredith, who is last, responds simply by saying it took her a long time to piece it together, but she now knows that it was him who had the affair with her mother and broke up her family. Webber is speechless.
- Christina, who earlier blanked when Burke asked her what she though he should re: the surgery, is called in during the operation. Burke has taken a bad turn, and they need to wake him in the middle of it. He'll be in intense pain, and Derek asks her to be there as a calming influence. He wakes up, thrashes about from the pain, and in spite of Derek pleading for her help, Christina freezes in the OR and eventually walks out.
- Doc needs to be put to sleep, so Meredeith, Addison, and Derek go to the Vet's to say goodbye. There is continued tension between the four of them.
- Izzy returns to Denny's room, and accepts his proposal, in spite of Bailey warning her to get the hell out.
- Everybody disperses to go change for the prom.
- Denny suffers a stroke and dies. Izzy, who beats herself up for changing her dress 3 times, is crushed. The only person who steps up to console her is Alex.
- Meredith is dancing with the Vet (Fin?) and keeps seeing Derek staring at her. She excuses herself, as does Derek from Addison. Fleeing down a hallway, Meredith screams at him to stop staring and leave her alone...she's finally moved on.
- Meredith and Derek have sex in a vacant office.
- As they're getting dressed, they're interrupted by Callie, who's trying to find Meredith to go see Izzy.
- Everybody returns to the foyer/prom. Izzy confesses to Webber that she cut the wire to Denny's heart, and says she quits.
- Everybody begins to leave. Fin looks at Meredith, who's looking at Derek, who's looking at Meredith. Fin asks Meredith to leave with him, and nobody moves.

See you next season. :)

At first I didnt want to watch this show, because ive never had any interest in medical dramas.. ER/St.Elsewhere never seen an episode. the only one ive ever liked was MASH but thats doesnt really count as a drama. I missed the first 5 or so episodes of Greys, but then the ladies mom came down and made up watch it one night, been hooked ever since. holy crap this is a really good show. some of the best acting youll ever see on tv. so much happened last night, its really hard to summarize. the best I can do is bullet point some crap that happened....

***********************SPOILERS**********************
****************************************************

* The gunmen comes to the hospital. he was after the manager of the restaurant to begin with and wanted to finish him. He kills the manager, but critically wounds Burke. Burke was on his way back to the hospital to see wtf was up with Izzy, she called him after he arrived at the other hospital to tell him he had better get that other good heart, because Denny was going down.

* Izzy cuts Dennys Hvad machine in hopes they can deteriorate his heart enough so he can get moved up the donor list. But, Burke gets shot, throwing her plan into even further lunacy. Izzy basically traps George into helping her and soon all the other interns are trapped into helping too (Meredith, George and Christina). With Burke shot only Dr. Bailey is able to run the tests necessary to get him moved up the donor list too prove hes sick enough. Theres of course a huge blowup between Dr. Bailey and the interns as Izzy is basically killing the man she loves to save him. Bailey asks the Chief "hypothetically" is someone were to cuts someones Hvad to get them moved up the donor list, would be ethical allow the person to receive the heart, even if someone had made him worse? In short, he said its their duty the patient first and foremost, so shes does the tests and gets the heart for Denny.

* During the whole Denny fiasco, Denny asks Izzy to marry him.

* Denny gets his heart operation and its successful. Izzy tells him he has a out on the marriage thing, since he was dying and all and she was saving his life. He still wants to marry her, hes the happiest hes ever been. Shes still freaked out, leaves a while and comes back and says yes. very good scene.

* meanwhile, with Burke shot, Christina is freaking out over not being able to confront her love for him. She can barely look or speak to him when hes in the ICU from his gunshot wound. Burkes situation is pretty intense, hes looking at never being able to have use of his arm again. Sheppard performs the surgery and its successful. The episode ends on Burke flexing his fingers and Christina watching him from outside the room. She starts to cry and runs into the room and grabs his hand. very good scene again.

* It was prom night for the Chiefs niece, she loses her virginity and passes out and has to go to Seattle Grace. Shes been battling cervical cancer and has been sick but not telling anyone for over a month, as she didnt want to miss prom and be "the girl with cancer". Chiefs wife was her chaperon to the prom and that returns a pretty intense scene with the Chief and his wife. Cheif wouldnt allow all the kids from HS too stay at the hospital, so they could bring the prom to her. He kicks them all out. His wife tells him that she knew about his affair 25 years ago with Merediths mother and for all shes done for him, he better put his family above work for one time in his life or she'll leave him.

* When the Chief finally finds out more details on what happened to Denny and his Hvad, he suspends all the interns. They decide to stick together and all say they cut his cord. without proof or someones own admission, he cant do anything. So he makes them all plan the prom for his niece. He then calls them all one by one into his office - to break them. Really great scene, each one basically have breakdowns, but on a personal level. He gets nothing from them, except for a dose of humanity. really, really good scene.

* Doc the dog finally dies from his cancer. His death is played as a metaphor for Merediths and Sheppards relationship. They have him put to sleep by the vet, Meredith is having big issues getting over Sheppard still.

* episode winds down with everyone going to the girls prom at the hospital, as the Chief makes everyone go. Sheppard is still in love with Meredith and is staring at her while they both dance with their partners (wife and vet). Meredith gets all choked up, says she needs to go to the bathroom and runs off. Sheppard says he needs to check on a patient. He runs off. tracks Meredith to a room, where they have the whole "i wish I could quit you" scene and make the sweet love. pretty weird scene. Earlier, Olivia tells George she loves him, but thinks hes avoiding her as she doesnt know everything thats going on that day. Is pissed. George tells her he wants to say it when he means it and would never force saying it. They get it on.

* Izzy is very excited about Denny and is going to his room to show him her prom dress and bask in their love. Denny dies right before she arrives. He gets a blood clot and has a seizure. Mega sadness moment. chokse me up just thinking about it, im such a pussy. this is a huge scene, Izzy should get a emmy for it. really amazing. The interns find her later still clinging to his corpse in his bed. Alex coaxes her off of him with another incredible scene.

* Episode ends on Izzy leaving the hospital and telling the chief shes was the one who cut the Hvad. She quits and says she could never be a surgeon. Also parts on Meredith having that awkward moment between Sheppard and the Vet and making that internal choice. Sheppards wife is also in the scene and its pretty apparent she knows they just had sex.

Hopefully she picks Robin, he needs the work.

Yep, I think it lasted two episodes. Quite impressive when you think about it, not many shows get cancelled that fast.

It is, but it isn't. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm hooked. It isn't always sappy sweet centered on Romance, at least that is what I tell myself. The bottom line is that I'm hooked along with my wife.

Oh and thanks for the updates Chinaski and Simms. That was great.!! Much appreciated.

Sounds like we missed a great episode.

I have to say that I am both surprised and impressed by the thourough breakdowns of the show that the men of FOFC have provided. You managed to include all the "girly" details (aka: the important parts).

For all of you that watched it with your wives - did any of the cry? I broke into full tears twice, almost a third time but I managed to hold it together...this of course just added fuel to radii's notion that I am crazy. :(

Anymore these days I cry like a twelve year old girl about anything the least bit emotional.

My fiance cried the most when they put the dog down because it reminded her of her dog that they had to put down back in the day.

I am so-so on this show...I watch it once and a while, seems to have some interesting plot twists, but I am not really all for the sappy parts I guess...

Now 24...THERE'S a good show!

It's a heck of a show, and the season finale was fantastic. Glad to see I'm not the only male watching it, though. :-)

I cried like a baby when they put Doc down...my dog was sitting next to me and I was petting him, I am pretty sure that made it worse. Then when Denny died...I was OK until Izzie started to cry, then the waterworks opened and the sniffles started. Such a good show...but I can't believe we have to wait until next season to see who Meredith picks (please let it be McDreamy!) and what happens with Izzie! Grrrr...

I don't watch this but ABC had announced their fall schedule today and they are moving Grey's Anatomy to Thursday going up against CSI and Aaron Sorkin's new show for NBC, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Doomed, I say. Doomed.

I don't watch this show much, but I have liked some things about it. And it gave me one of my biggest "Oh Shit!" moments on TV this year when the bomb exploded in the post-Super Bowl episode. That was amazing.
