I read a marketing report regarding hockey fans, and the conclusion was that among all other sports, NFL fans rate hockey as next on their list more than NBA or MLB fans.
This makes sense because of the physical and aggressive nature of both sports. After hockey, NFL is next for me.
So there is either an opportunity to expand the NHL fan base, or it is maxed out already. I guess it depends on whether you take the "glass is half-full" or "half-empty" perspective.

I take Baseball first. I don't care what the state of the MLB is in. The sport itself is the greatest sport in the wolrd as far as I'm concerned.
Secondly I choose Football.
After that is Neckcar racing.

Ok...I will say, I go with NFL and AFL, then CFL, down to NFLE, then basketball, that would be it for me, I can watch hockey in person but cant watch on TV and baseball just bores me in person and on TV.

The only sport I follow is baseball, and lately my interest is waning even in that.
Not sure why, but sports just ain't doing it for me. Maybe I'm getting too old and cynical...

1. NFL - Always has been my favorite sport, always will be. For me nothing compares.
2. NBA - This became my second fav, once MLB started the long decline it has been in.
3. MLB - Still enough interest to hold third place, barely. I am a Yankees fan and I don't even like the shape baseball is in.
4. College Football - Started to get into college football not too long ago. Now if only they would get rid of the BCS and go with a playoff system.
5. Collage Basketball - Also, recently started to get into college basketball and really like the "March Madness"

MLB. I love the fact there are games everyday so I can watch my team twice a week or so withiut having to change my schedule around. Plus I don't mind missing a game.
I also like the fact that there are day games.

Auto Racing (Open-wheel and NASCAR) holds my attention longer than a hockey or baseball game.
I'm glad I don't care for basketball because when I do get into a game, I usually am a heartbeat skip away from a heart attack.
But Baseball is by far the best sporting event to attend at any level.

NFL is king. I don't see that ending any time soon.
1A would be college hoops. This is sort of my religion. March is my holy month.
They play other sports?

hockey is definitely king for me:
1) NHL - will watch regulation game on TV or in person; will make plans/adjust work schedule to watch a playoff game, especially if it involves the Avs.
2) NFL - will watch regulation game on TV if I'm not doing something else; will watch a playoff game, but not if I'm working or have other plans.
3) MLB - will watch regulation game if there's nothing else on, especially if I need something to put me to sleep (and golf isn't on). I've seen one playoff game in the last 2 years (game 7 of the Yankees/DBacks series).
4) NBA - might switch over if there's an intriguing matchup (Yao/O'Neal), but it won't stay on for long.
