FOFC Highlander - 5/26/06 - Royal Jewels RESULTS POSTED

The King has decided that he needs 10 each of the following gems - Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Diamond. He has sent out his royal miner to start digging holes to find them.

For every hole dug, I'll generate a number between 1-10. If empty, try another hole. If a gem exists, I'll generate a number between 1-4 and check the gem table.

1-6 : Empty
7-9 : 1 roll on gem table
10 : 2 rolls on gem table

How many holes will the Royal Miner have to dig to fill the King's Quota of 10 each? I'll keep this open until 5 PM EST

NOTE: Even if the miner finds a gem that has had it's quota filled, you do NOT reroll on the Gem table.

It was a busy day of digging in order to get the King's quota filled but, finally, with the last diamond plucked from the ground, the request was filled in 106 digs.

It was close... very very close. No one had it on the head but, there can be only one. Digamma ended up as the winner with a guess of 107.

Breakout of the # of gems

16 Rubies
16 Emeralds
12 Sapphires
10 Diamonds

The 54 gems found was pretty much what I would have expected after 106 holes but, breakout is weighted towards the rubies/emeralds.
