It looks like that headline is a bit of an exageration. I'm not seeing an actual article on cnn.com, but there is a link to a video off of the main page. The activist group's website is http://www.abolishthenword.com/ Briefly poking around, the group is saying that the word was used by people who performed lynchings, and so why would anyone want to use that word now? And they're actually fighting against the prevelant use of the word in black culture.

If a black person calls a white person the n-word during an assault -- and, yes, I've heard black people call white people the n-word -- does that qualify as a hate crime? It gets so confusing sometimes.

I think last Weekend. It had to do with my post in the thread about the Dubai company being awarded the contract to manage port operations in the US. I mentioned that telling the nations of the Middle East that we don't think they should be able to participate in the global economy because we believe they are terrorists, simply because of their geographic region, that we might as well ....err... Lynch them, in the lingua franca of this thread.
