Breaking News here in Vegas, surely disappointing many fans that have come to see the match. Update soon. There are no links yet but Castillo's trainer was just interviewed by the local sports network.

Just saw this on ESPN, damn! This should have been a great fight. I read, though, that Corrales is still undecided and maybe he'll fight, even if it'll be a non-title bout.
EDIT: The article on ESPN changed: it's officially called off. Link (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2468358)

<!-- begin text11 div --><!-- begin leftcol --> <!-- template inline -->LAS VEGAS -- ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reports the scheduled fight between Jose Luis Castillo and lightweight champion Diego Corrales has been called off after Castillo failed to make the 135-pound weight limit Friday.
<table align="right" border="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td width="2">
</td><td width="65">http://espn.go.com/photo/2006/0519/box_g_castillo_65.jpg</td></tr><tr><td width="2">
</td><td width="65">Castillo</td></tr></tbody></table>Castillo never came close to the 135-pound limit, weighing in at 140 on his first try and 139½ a few minutes later. It was the second straight time he had failed to make weight for a fight with Corrales.
The missed weight was a repeat of the second fight between the two men in October when Castillo weighed 138½ pounds. Castillo knocked out Corrales in the fourth round, and Goossen said Castillo was stronger because he didn't have to make the weight.
Castillo was visibly drawn and had trouble getting up while lying on the stage at the weigh-in. The concern over his weight prompted the WBC to weigh him at various times in his training, and Nevada boxing officials said he would forfeit up to 25 percent of his $900,000 purse if he was over the limit.
None of that helped Castillo get anyway near the weight limit, and his promoter, Bob Arum, angrily accused his fighter's camp of lying to him.
"It's disgusting," Arum said. "If I was Corrales I wouldn't fight."
<table align="right" border="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td width="2">

</td><td width="65">Corrales</td></tr></tbody></table>Corrales was to make $1.2 million for the fight, which was expected to draw a crowd of more than 10,000 and was to be televised by Showtime.
"I thought all along he wouldn't make the weight," said Corrales' promoter, Gary Shaw. "It's perpetuating a fraud on the public. Don't do the charade."
Corrales and Castillo engaged in one of the great fights of modern times last year, with Corrales getting off the canvas twice in the 10th round to stop Castillo in a battle that left both fighters battered and bruised.
The rematch, though, came off only after Castillo agreed to forfeit some of his purse, then made the most of it by landing a crushing left hook in the fourth round to stop Corrales.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

When people dont make weight, the bout becomes an unsanctioned fight, but the people can still fight, generally for a larger % of the purse(for the person who made weight). This fight could have been made it was a decison not to make it, period.

Yeah, but after watching the first two it's a correct decision. Money isn't everything: these two are generally considered to be the best in the world at their weight. This fight was 'the decider' as to who is the best - why should Corrales put his reputation on the line when he plays by the rules and the other guy doesn't?
They have fought once on equal terms, when Castillo dominated, but Corrales gritted his teeth and dragged something from nowhere to gain an amazing win, but one which was far from the 'dismantling' of Castillo he wants.
Fight 2: Castillo has an unfair edge by not getting to the weight, and cleans Corrales out, who admits he made a mistake in leaving himself wide open, but feels that the weight was an equal factor (I was unawar of this until a few months ago, but Ricky Hattin for example puts on about half a stone between the weigh in and fight itself)
Fight 3: Castillo does the same again. Corrales refuses to fight a man who has not met the conditions of the fight, which are the conditions of every sanctioned fight worldwide, and would be fighting at a disadvantage on a fight wihch will be regarded as deciding who is the best lightweight in the world. Fair play IMO - like the old saying, making a mistake once can be forgiven, making the same mistake twice cannot.
Castillo wants to fight Corrales? Fine - make the weight, or makt the fight at the next weight level up.
