how exactly an NBA player gets tired or fatigued. They keep saying this about the Suns on espn. Sure, I dont play in the NBA so I cant know for sure, but I just find it very hard to believe that a professional athlete, who only plays on average AT MOST 48 minutes a night, can be so tired and fatigued it would affect the outcome of a game.

I get fatigued playing like 3 or 4 exchanges of full court nowadays.

If you are playing man to man defense, chasing around another elite athlete on the perimeter or leaning on and being leaned on by another 6'10/250 lb man for an extended period of time, I would imagine it would be 100x worse than just goofing off with your friends.

Not sure how to answer this without talking down to you... but you can't be serious, can you?

How come world class sprinters can only run 100 meters at a time, they should be able to run for miles!

I should rephrase my post somewhat. Sure I can understand getting tired during the game and such, but they keep saying how they are going to be tired and fatigued for tomorrows game, and the one after that, and the one after that and so on. Now that is something I just cant fully comprehend, if one good nights sleep cant fully recover you from playing 48 minutes of basketball from the night before then I dont even really know what to say.

It's muscle fatigue that kills you. You aren't 'fatigued' as such, but you can't run and jump as well as you usually can, and you lose a step.

I think, the question makes sense compared to soccer players, maybe american football players and most certainly tennis players.

But again, like you all have said already, its a completely different bag guarding athletes who -- for all intents and purposes -- are pretty close in talent level. It's the sustained greatness that separates them.

Or better yet, you go guard them for 5 minutes on your best day and watch them scorch you on their worst.

Funny thing and totally the opposite of what i think. We in Spain can't underestand how can they play 4 or 5 games per week in the NBA when in European basket they play a couple per week and talk about being so tired.

Pansies :D

(never mind that I can play about 5 minutes before I get fatigued- I just don't have the lungs and endurance to go full tilt for a long period of time)
