I just had Wendy's and they were devoid of any salt or flavor, inconsistent in that some were hard and some were oil saturated....basically while eating them I decided that they were simply a ketchup carrier.

Burger King has the worst fries. I don't know what the deal is with them, but the damn things get cold as soon as they cross the counter.

I voted Hardee's/Carls, but you could definitely make the case for Wendy's.

I voted for our favourite chain from Coming to America, but, in reality....Burger King fries just fail to get it done.

Burger King fries are almost always awful, with Hardee's a close runner-up. The saving grace for Hardee's is the presence of the curly fries as an option, they aren't great by any means but they're nowhere near as bad as their standard fries.

Burger King used to have the best fries, but sometime in the late 90's (I was a sophmore in college...I remember because I was so upset about it) they changed them. And then they became the worst fries ever...

I'd have to vote for BK as well. Their fries are so scratchy, they tear your throat apart on the way down.
For best fries, I'd have to vote Checkers by a long shot.

All of the above. Over the last few years, I have come to hate all fast food french fries. I have a hard time finishing even a small order of fries.
Burger King has the worst fries.
Wendy's has very good fries. They are plump and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Sometimes they aren't salted enough, but I see that as a minor problem.

Exactly...people think I'm crazy when I talk about that, but BK went from having good fries to these things that are just awful.

McDonald's has the best fries, hands down...
As for worst, it's a toss up for BK and Hardee's to me, I went with Hardee's (although I did not thinka bout the curly fries aspect).

Jack in the Box Natural Cut suck. At least they have curly as an option.
I'd say BK would be my next unfavorite.

Well, what's the definition of fast-food here? Something you go through a drive-through to get, or does it have to be the kind of place where they make about fifteen of the same burger and put it under a heat lamp until somebody orders it?
I mean, if we're calling anything with a drive-through fast food, then Tommy's chili-cheese french fries puts any of the crap in this poll to utter shame.

Yeah, so do I.
I don't think I made myself clear.
People in the thread have been discussing the merits of the fries listed, and some of the stuff being listed in a poll for worst has been called the best.
What I'M saying is that I don't care which of those six or seven folks in here think are the best...they're wrong. :)

KFC have the worst for me. Voted other, saw the results and BK is the least popular? Wow - their fries to me are the best of all. One's man's fries, another's poison I guess...

I voted for BK, don't have a Hardee's or Carl's anywhere near here and I have no idea what McDowell's is.
Arby's curly fries are the best though.

Checkers/Rally's are far and away the best fries, even if they are 2 bucks for the large size. (Arby's curly fries second, Popeyes third.)
Burger King's are the worst. At least Wendy's can be decent, and at least they are something different.(A little larger than normal.) Burger Kings are just bland and not good. KFC's wedges can be decent, but when done badly are quite bad.

Taco Bell used to have a mean "Supreme nacho" fry that was topped with cheese, beef, japs(optional), tomatoes and sour cream. It quickly went away, i guess the fries were just a test program.

It was probably around 95-96 when that happened (at least where I worked). They went from regular, decent fries to craptastic fries that had a kind of coating on them...

I remember hating Roy Rogers fries when I lived in Virginia. And I don't think I liked Jack in the Box fries in California.
McDonalds fries are the best for about the first 15 minutes after they have been fried. Then after that they are teh suck. Wendy's fries have the best staying power once they have been removed from the fryer.
I can vouch for Checkers fries, had those for the first time last week in Mississippi, good stuff.
I voted for Burger King's fries as the worst, but I think I dislike them equally as much as Arby's fries. My favorite are Wendy's and McDonald's.

You are living like fifteen years in the past. They've changed their frying for "health concerns"/PR so many times, I think they've started to fry them in yogurt. McDonalds used to have incredible fries, but those days are long past.
I'm actually a fan of Wendy's fries. Of course, they made the, albeit bogus, healthy choice of not salting their fries. So you have to ask for it every damn time you visit their drive through.
I could give BK the nod as well. Any of the places that seem like they mash and then fry extruded tubes of potato.
jack in the box isn't far off from BK in my book, but then again they have curly fries.
Long John Silvers might be the worst by far, simply because the fries taste like every thing else they fry.

In-N-Out Burger has by far the best ones, because they're made from fresh potatoes. You can actually watch the potatoes being peeled and sliced as you're placing your order. Authenticity, not artificiality.

I remember a few years ago (at least out here), Taco Bell changed its combo meals for a few months to include fries, and they quite obviously the same frozen fries you get at the supermarket. Now those were the worst.

I sell food for a living.
In 1990 fast food companies developed a FF called the Stealth FF.
A Stealth FF changed the whole FF industry.
They took the FF you and everyone love'd and added a coating to the outside of the FF.
The point....Was to make a FF that stayed hotter longer...
Oops they forgot 1 thing...FLAVOR...it ruined The FF world.
2nd they are very very very un healthy.

McDonald's, to me, are too often overdone. With their small cross-section, there is very little room for error. Hard doesn't get it done for me in the French fry arena. Had McDonalds fries today, and couldn't hardly eat them.. Certainly not Good Eats.

For those that haven't had theirs, imagine Burger King fries that are cold, limp, and have been cooked in fish oil. 'nuff said.

Burger King's burgers are actually quite good, and the only reason I still go there. On the othe rhand, the fried are the only thing I can stand at McDonald's. They have the worst burgers of any fast food place. Seriously, you can get one of those cheapass microwaveable burgers and they taste better than McDonald's.

What is Hardee's and McDowells?
Cleo McDowell: Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.

I'm going with Burger King here. Like others have said, they used to be good, and then something went horribly wrong. I think they've actually gotten a little better in the past 5 years or so, but they're still not good. I've never been near a Hardee's, so I don't know about theirs.
I do miss Rally's. I used to eat that pretty often in New Orleans. Now, the nearest one to me is in Canton, OH, 102 miles away from me. Yeeeah, I'm not gonna be eating Rally's again for a long time. :(

I always thought BK fries stunk. At least at the one near my house growing up, they were always soggy and tasteless. If I could get a Whopper with some McDonald's fries, it would be perfect fast food.

Worst fries - Wendy's - just don't have any flavor, and my rule is I don't add any salt to food, so they lose out just because they slack.
Best - Backyard Burger curly fries, Zaxby's fries (when salted correctly), and Chick-fil-a waffle fries (when crunchy)

I am kind of surprised nobody has mentioned Bojangles seasoned fries as some of the best..
I will have to second burger king's being the worst though.. those damn things are like paper wrapped around soggy paper dipped in salty vegetable oil.
