Hey guys. Please, please don't flame me for this. I am on the boards a lot and I know computer software pretty well, but I'm clueless when it comes to hardware. That said, I'm close to purchasing Morrowind, but I keep hearing that the game's a hog when it comes to resources. Is there a simple way to assemble my hardware information (including what kind of video card I have?) so I can see if Morrowind can even stack up on my computer? I bought it last summer, here's the basic stats I can give you:
P4 2.00GHz
256 MB Ram
I kid you not. I am clueless when it comes to hardware. Somebody please have pity on me and help me out here? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

that is about like my system and it it fine. The trick will be your video card, but I am sure that wil be fine as well.

Go to Start/Run then type dxdiag. Then go to Display. That will give you all your video information (you can also see other hardware information under the appropriate tabs).

Ok thanks for the responses guys. Tarkus, thanks for the DX Diagnostic Tool. Here are my video card specs:
64 MB DDR Nvidia GeForce4 MX 420
I'm hoping I'll be ok. I read several reviews which said that because of the sound card the game is unstable for more than 10 minutes at a time. Has anyone else experienced this bug? I would assume they have released subsequent patches but I just wanted to make sure first. Thanks for all the help guys.

Don't know for a fact but I'd be real surprised if that video card were not enough. Will most probably work fine with it. Not sure what you're speaking of regarding the sound card. What type do you have?

that sound card should be fine.
Morrowind does have a patch out. It runs fine for me, with a lesser system than what you have.

your system is better than mine, and I never had a problem unless I played more than 3 or 4 hours at a time (which you will want to do when you start roaming freely about)(but my vid card is only 32mb, not 64, so you should be better). It is an awesome game, imho. Have fun.

Hey thanks for all the feedback. I plan to get the game soon. Now the tough decision: Do I buy the Gold Edition or the Collector's Edition? I've heard two of the songs and I've got to say that's some soundtrack!

double your RAM, it'll really make a difference (especially if you are running Windows XP) and it's not too expensive to do.

Andy,
Is that an English double or a standard one?

Well I bought the game a few days ago and haven't been able to put it down. It runs pretty smoothly on my computer. Thanks for all the input fellas.
