So in an attempt to fix my dad's much maligned computer, I've come across the solution to one of the problems (how to make Half-Life 2 Deathmatch work), but it requires a Windows XP CD to re-install some WMI files. He, of course, has no clue where the CD is. Is there any way around this? Can I bring my Windows XP CD over here, or is it somehow tied to my installation on my machine?

Help, it's the blind leading the blind, deaf and dumb over here :)

You should be able to use your own CD with no issues.

Yep, just make sure you sure like versions of XP - meaning XP Home CD if he has XP Home or XP Pro for XP Pro.

also a simple fix so that you won't need to bring the CD again - look on the CD and there is a folder labeled "i386" simply copy that entire folder to the C drive and when the computer asks for the CD you can type in the path C:\i386.

not to complicated and that way your dad will "always" have the files needed. It is not a bad idea to do on your own as well, saves time looking for CD's

Wow, first time I've ever heard this. Nice.

A definite must.
