The Yankees just announced Gary Sheffield is scheduled to have surgery and hope to have him back at some point in September.

Well, they haven't needed him so far to lead in the AL East.
It sucks that the Yankees have had all this and the Sox can't take advantage.

Bah, he just needs some time to hide his HGH stash and cap his dealer. He'll be back by August.

I still remember when that pud was throwing balls into the seats from third base in Milwaukee just to get out of town. it is all about the Karma...all of those rockets into the stands gave him a bunm shoulder 15 years later!

Abreu maybe?
Abreu maybe?
And who would they trade? As far as I know, the Yanks dont have a pot to piss in when it comes to prospects, and even if they did, the Phillies would want major league talent being that they are in a race for the playoffs.

The Yanks have some decent prospects. The phils have plenty of hitting, shedding the salary for future flexibility would be nice. And I know that Abreu is some "great hitter," but I'm sure they can win the 86 games or so that they'll win this year, just fine without him.
