I'm in 2020 in my dynasty, taking over the Bruins in 2012, I had built a team that is now year in and year out a cup contender. Since taking over we've won 3 cups, anchored by Marian Hossa, who just this past year eclipsed the 900 goal plateau. Sadly it wasn't with us as we let Hossa go after a subpar year, and a change in direction.

Our team is a grind em out, physical speed team. Our D is 8 deep, so we always have 1 guy in the AHL ready for a call up. We're also very young with only 3 players over 30. Our offense is good but not great, but far and away we're the best defensive club in the league, lead by 27 year old Jan Kaberle in net, who's played since he was 18 for the Bruins, backstopping us to our 3 cups.

Going into 2019/2020 we were predicted to finish 6th in the league, but that was being generous. We ended up finishing 6th in the East, which saw four teams top 100 points. We however faced the weakest divison winner in New Jersey and dispatched them with ease in 5.

Playing #7 seed Toronto in the conference Semis we didn't play well and ended up squeaking it out in 7 in triple OT.

In the Eastern Conference Finals it was an original 6 battle between #5 Montreal and #6 Boston. Again, we prevailed in 7, but suffered a blow when our 2nd best defensemen Ivan Romanov partially tore his ACL. Thankfully we had depth so going into Los Angeles for the Finals we wouldn't miss a beat.

Then comes game 1, where we get blown out 6-2. Not only are we handidly defeated but we lose our best defensemen Mark Stuart and our fourth best defensemen Tomas Hermansson with dislocated shoulders. We call up an AHL mainstay who could be a 5th or 6th guy on most teams, so we're not too worried.

Before game 2, Jan Hamzik, our 6th defensemen is lost to a twisted knee. We have to call up another AHL player, only this guy Sergei Kornev is a rookie in the AHL, and is making his NHL debut in the Stanley Cup.

Kaberle steals us games 3 and 4 with two 40 save performances, and we go back to LA where we are losers 3-2 in OT.

With the series on the line in Boston, Kaberle is again the hero with 35 saves in a 2-0 win. With the home team 6-0 in the playoffs, we go to LA looking to break the streak, and that we do, with a 4-2 win highlighted by a Sergei Kornev game winning goal with 4 minutes left.

It should be noted my team had three guys score 60 points all year, and those were my top 3 scorers. We couldn't put the puck in the net very much but we also only allowed a league low 218 goals.

I know this doesn't mean much to a lot of people but I needed to post this triumpth as it's to date the most fun EHM season I've ever had.

Kudos Riz, now announce the new EHM features ha.

Wow. I am drafting right now and the guy who went #1 absolutely killed the QMJHL

64 GP, 115 G, 114 A, 229 PT, + 180, 9.27 rating

Then in the playoffs

17 GP, 5 G, 48 A, 53 PT

To my knowledge he isn't. as a 16 year old he had 170 + points in the Q, those 229 were as a 17 year old.

Some key ratings for him right now ..

Passing: 19
Creativity: 20
Flair: 18
Getting Open: 17
Slap Shot: 17
Stickhandling: 18
Wrist shot: 17

The year is 2020, it's 100% sure he's a regen as it's the only system used by the game. Impressive, who has the #1 pick? Give us some updates about him later! :D

He was drafted and susequently signed by the Sharks, who's best finish in the last 3 years was 11th in the West. They have some decent young players developing so Tom McCormack (the rook) will be a catalyst for them.

Great story. I've been hoping to get some time and get back into EHM once again. It's the perfect challenge being a Blues fan and all. :)

Good for you!!

Ok, I'm ready to get back into this game.

Post some tips. I know how to run my NHL team, what about the affiliates? In what way or how do you play? I love the hockey, but like FM, this game baffles me on some things.

The AHL and ECHL are very easy to manage, just send prospects down there and their coach will take care of everything for you. For the AHL, I usually have about 15 of my own prospects down there, allowing their coach/GM to sign a few veterans to help the team out. For the ECHL, its usually only a couple of guys, some who I think have a chance, but aren't ready for the AHL.

Overall, I think that is one of the easier parts of the game. For me, I let the coach do everything, and I play as a true GM, just bringing in the players who I feel will be the best for my team. Also, it allows the game to go much faster and I don't feel bogged down.

Thanks, how is this accomplished? I always thought I had to do this?

Also, what leagues to you use? and on what level of detail?

If you mean just GM?

Go to GM Options and set all the options so your head coach takes control.

As far as me personally, I keep the NHL enhanced and run all the other leagues in the backround.

This is exactly how I do it as well. Makes it much more challenging since you can't rely on some sort of super tactic.

Ok, I think I've done that before.

Also, the minors you don't run "enhanced"? You run every possible league in the background?

Thanks!

I start vacation on Friday and I'll have my laptop. I usually load up FOF as I like to keep OOTP on my desktop.. but this time I'm taking my EHM CD and I'm going to friggin learn this game! ;)

Yeah, I just keep em in the backround because it cuts down sim time and you can still check boxscores and all that.

dola,

Also, when you GM are you the only one who can bring players up and down - AND do the coaches change your lines after you set them?

Thanks!

You can set it so the computer uses your lines if you want.

Good news!

So, basically.. I can set lines, call up and send down players.. but all I have to manage is my NHL team? Sweet!

I have the logos, rinks, jerseys, and the unfaking patch. I think I'm ready for vacation.

Appreciate all the help. :)
