This is a simple thread. You have music you like, you recommend it. Simple.

Some rules for posting in this thread.

1. You can not post in this thread, for any reason, without including the name of a song that you think people on FOFC would think is worth listening to. A brief description of the song (artist/style/etc.) would be cool.

2. Any song you mention must be something people could download somehow. P2P is fine. A band's web site is fine. Some song that you can download from your friend's geocoties web site is not, unless you link directly to it.

3. Think a song listed here sucks? Think it's awesome? Cool. Post you thoughts. But you must include a song in your post. No posting without a song. Keep reading this rule until you understand it.

4. The only exception to the "must post a song" rule is this post, the first in the thread. From now on, you must include a song to post.

5. Seriously, read rule #3 and #4. Read them again. If you want to post, think of a song.

6. Any genre or style is fine, but the idea here is to recommend songs that the rest of may not know about. If it's played on MTV every 17 seconds, we probably don't need the tip off.

7. Any musical style is fine, but it should be good. If you recommend something that sucjs, we all reserve the right to mock you (in accordance with rule #3).

Got it? Good. Let's start hearing about some cool music. Go!

To kick it off...

"Hell no, we ain't alright", Public Enemy -- Chuck D's tribute to New Orleans

"Rocker", Hollywood Rose - The birthplace of Guns N' Roses.

"Riverhead", Prick - Probably the best work of a Toronto-based Trent Reznor wanna-be

2. Any song you mention must be something people could download legally somehow. P2P is fine. A band's web site is fine. Some song that you can download from your friend's geocoties web site is not, unless you link directly to it.

Fixed that for you.

"The Lakes Of Canada" by The Innocence Mission. A lot of their songs are very good, but I chose this one because it was one of the best available for download on their web site, and the link below has some reviews of this song in particular by some other artists (Simon Raymonde of the Cocteau Twins and Sufjan Stevens).

Definitely agree with the above, I like all their albums.

I would recommend "Senegal Fast Food" by the group Amadou and Mariam, from their "Dimanche and Bamako" album. They are a husband and wife team from Mali, and have a really great sounding and catchy style with great guitar licks, good production, and on other songs on the album, a really diverse African sound. A lot of the music is in French, but trust me, that doesn't take away from the sound at all. Very highly recommended. Downloadable on Apple Music Store.

"God is a Girl" Groove Coverage

Somehow seems to hit every single one of my dance music cravings in one song. High energy, fast pace and beautiful lyrics. Good stuff.

Apple Music Store? I at least went to the trouble of finding a song you can download for free!
