View Full Version : FM Question about Ukraine High League

I decided to go outside my normal experience and try a team in teh Ukraine High League. I just finished my first match and was looking over the nationalities of my team. The league rules, listed in FM, state that I cannot have more than 12 foreign players in the match squad. I wanted to see if I could build a squad of 11 African starters that could be competetive in European Cup play, so I was pursuing the nationalities to see how many foreigners I had and I noticed something very odd:

I have two players from Belarus and four from Russia. None had the foreigner tag. I checked their page to see if they had Ukraine cit as well and they do not.

Belarus and Russia are old USSR states. Can I get all USSR state players without counting agaisnt the "foreign" cap? Is this a bug? Why do the league rules say "foreigners" when not all foreign nationals count? What are the specifric Ukraine rules in the game?

I'd recommend doing a search over at the SI boards. I'm pretty sure I had some of the same questions you did and found the answer over there. Just use the keywords 'Ukraine' and 'foreigners'.

BTW, in case you are wondering why I don't ask this question over in teh SI forums:

1). It was asked there three months ago. There was never an official answer nor did the posters ever come to a conclusion or an exhaustive list.

2). Apparently, Bulgaria is another nation whose players do not count as foreign to Ukraine. Apparently there are some ex-Soviet states which do, so that can't be the rule.

3). The SI posters are, to be honest, much less helpful than you guys. In one page, several asked "who cares?" Seven or eight told the poster he was wrong and that foreign must mean foriegn to Ukraine not with some countries getting a free pass (they made these claims wihtout ever doing any research of their own) Another told the original poster to check other ex-USSR states like Czech, Romania and Serbia! In other words, you guys are a class above them.

So, for those reasons, I post here, in case any know.

It was like I was predicting your question before you asked it!

Yeah, I found one thread and it's pretty much useless. I'm thinking that I was temporarily interested in Russia and found what their limits were, not the Ukraine League's.

Well, I'm gonna start a Ukrainian league and do some investigating.

Okay, do you have the latest patch? If yes, did you download the one with the data update?

Just take a look at the rules of the High League, its there under match rules. Take a look at my team, as an example. I'm Metalurg Zp. I have Belarus and Russians that do not have the forgeign tag beside them. Other teams are similar.

Hmm. That's odd, because mine says:

Match Rules:

The match squad must have no more than 12 foreign players.

I don;t know how to post a pic, though.

That's why I'm thinking we might have different databases. Shit, maybe I don't have the updated data.

If you're curious like I am, you should check your data/db folder and see if there are any files marked with February dates.

Abe Sargent

Nope, none of em have Feb dats.

The only thing I can think of then is that you don't have the latest data and SI decided to get rid of the Ukraine foreigner limits. Maybe if Marc sees this, he'll chime in. :)
