I'm watching. The first fight I've seen in HD. The first round was quite entertaining.

I found it interesting Stewart is in Taylor's corner for his fight.
And yeah, round 1 was good.

Gotta give that round to Winky. My scorecard is even now.

Wright looked better in round 2. Has me a little worried here.

Taylor in round 3? That big miss of his had me thinking he was going to get caught bad one of these times though. Looked better at the end of te round for sure.

I'd give Winky the 3rd round, but I could see the argument for scoring it for Taylor. Taylor looks like he is taking the 4th round for sure.

Ok, Taylor had to have gotten 4 if not 3. Still, I agree with the announcers Tayolr needs to use his freakin jab. Why would he completely drop it in this fight all of a sudden?

Im watching, gotta be even through 4.
This is a fight I still cant believe Taylor took, almost nothing to gain. Little money, regular fans have little respect for Winky.

Damn, Winky started to key off on Taylor there.
Eaglesfan27
06-17-2006, 10:20 PM
I'd give Winky the 5th. He is working Taylor in those corners.

Even fight again. Taylor looks like he is taking control of this fight. Will be interesting to see if he can continue the trend next round.

Looking like Taylor might knock Winky down soon.

Anyone know if the piece of equipment the cutman uses to reduce swelling is cold? Wife just asked(yes she is watching) and I really never considered it.
Anyways, Taylor is in with a real tough SOB, as Wright as been for years, but Taylor is getting the best so far.

Wright has changed his strategy quite a bit since the beginning of the fight. Early on he was backing Taylor into the corner and chasing him. Now he will back him into the corner and then stay right on the edge of punching distance.

I believe itis called a 'cold press' is it not? Maybe I am thinking of something else. But yeah, I am pretty sure it is cold.
And my wife watches boxing a lot with me. Just not tonight.

Ah crap. Don't swell eye, don't swell!!

Forget it, my pleading was too late. That eye is a goner.
Suck it up Taylor, win this fight.

That eye looks bad. However, I think Taylor is up on points.

Taylor is going to get a point taken away if he does that again.

Lederman has it 86-85(and I agree) for Wright. I think the judges will be a bit more influenced by the power shots of Taylor and could see 86-85 or even 87-84 Taylor at this point.

Winky is taking those shots like a man. I don't think Taylor has a chance at a knockout right now.

This has been a great fight so far.
I agree, I thought Winky was getting shaky a few rounds ago, but he is showing great toughness and I don't think he is going to go down after all.

Wow headbutts really have affected Taylors face. Looks like these 2 guys styles are just leading to headbutts(as opposed to Holyfields attack headbutts).

Larry Merchant: "Why he is backing up mystifies me"
Jim Lampley: "Probably because he cant see out of his left eye....."
LOL cracking me up.

That was a funny exchange.
I'd give the fight to Taylor on points, but I could see it going either way.

Draws are awful.

while i hate draws.... i think it was justifed.
But i do think Taylor would have won by a point had that headbutt not completely closed his eye in a matter of 3 mins.

Yeah the draw sucks, but I understand it in a way. I don't understand how the 114-114 judge gave the last round to Wright though.
I wanted Taylor to win though so I am biased there.
I do hope Taylor mans up and lets a rematch happen. I would like to see these two go at it again.

I thought the draw was a good decision. Yeah, they suck...but after a good fight, they are the best result if we want another one.
As for the 12th, the judge who scored it for Wright scored the 12th for Wright, so even if he scored it for Taylor, it still would have been a draw. And as for the scoring of the 12th, I think people got carried away with Wright's movement, thinking he was dancing it away. No, he didn't do much in the 12th, but Taylor barely did anything either.

I'd probably wait a week too. If I had the money, it would be one I would buy on PPV in a heartbeat, but my budget is really tight and there isn't much room for PPV buys.
But of course, I will be getting Pacquiao vs. Morales III. No fucking way I'm missing that fight.

Of ALL the fights this year, this was the fight I would have paid for. Im a big fan of Taylor and I really respect Wright. Glad it was on HBO all and all but I would have paid for this one.

That sums up my opinion on both the fight as a whole and the 12th specifically.
