I need to rant.
It's been on heck of a horrible day. Actually, in reflection on it, it could have been a lot worse, but it's still been one of the worst days I've had in a long while.
I couldn't fall asleep last night. This was in part due to the fact that I had a major headache that wouldn't go away with one Advil and all the water I could drink. I finally got to bed at around 12:30 a.m., after taking another Advil and drinking about a liter of water.
I woke up about 3 times between 1230 and 4, as a result of drinking all that water. At 4 my headache was back. Two more Advil later, I fell asleep only to wake up a few more times because of the aforementioned water. At 7 my alarm went off and I snoozed it once, when I woke up my head was hurting again and I felt like I only slept 5 minutes all night.
I decided then that I wasn't going to go to work and turned on my computer to write an email saying I wouldn't be in, but would be available by cell phone. I then went back to sleep, a percocet on board. Mercifully, I was able to sleep.
Woke up a bit later, groggy from the percocet and hungry, so I took my phone into the kitchen and poured myself some cereal. Somehow, when trying to grab my phone, I mis-grabbed it and it ended up falling into Oz's water dish. Then it started flipping out, constantly vibrating and thinking that its buttons kept getting pressed. So I took it apart but then realized that I need to have my phone, as it's the only way work can get in touch with me.
So I go to the Sprint website to try to find where the nearest store was, they said there was one in my local mall. So I run over there and find out that it was a Nextel store and they couldn't help me. Off I have to head to Reston to THAT Sprint store. THAT store (where the Nextel store said I should go) turned out also to be a Nextel store and said I had to go to some other Sprint store in Reston. Got to THAT store (a real Sprint store) and have to wait about 20 minutes for a clerk to be able to help me.
As it turns out, water damage pretty much kills my phone (Samsung A900) and because I didn't get insurance on it, and because I haven't had it a full year, they can't replace it or send it back to get fixed, so I have to pay full price for a new phone. This time, I got insurance on it (something like $6/month on my bill, but if it saves me money in the long run I'll be happy).
Driving back home my headache comes back (it had been gone for about 6 hours a record for the day!), which sucks.
At least this is a 3 paycheck month for me, so I can kind of absorb the cost of the new phone, but I'm still disgusted, mostly with myself. And I think it's time for another percocet.
Hopefully nobody from work has tried to call me. I think that they're not working on my stuff right now (some of my designs are being built onto the spacecraft, but I don't think they're actively working on it today), so I got lucky in that respect, but it's still a hassle.
Anyway. Misery loves company, anybody else having a wonderful Monday?
