Can anyone explain why NBC is broadcasting the U.S. Women's Open golf tourney in high def ... but not Wimbledon? Tennis is awesome in high def, and I was so looking forward to seeing Wimbledon in HD, but no.

It also looks like not all of the women's open is in true high def ... it looks like they flip back and forth from time to time. NBC Sports sucks out loud in HD.

It may be because of something with the grounds? Or maybe they are using international feeds (like ABC is using for the FIFA World Cup) are they aren't in high def?

The ABC and ESPN World Cup games have been in HD. In the World Cup thread it was indicated that even the ESPN2 games were in HD in locations where ESPN2 HD is available.

I will give credit to NBC for at least showing the Stanley Cup in HD. I hadn't watched much hockey all season -- the Outdoor Living coverage was almost as bad as the glowing puck days of hockey. Seeing it in HD made me a hockey fan again.

Uh... ABC and ESPN have used the world feed which is in High Def. They aren't supplying any cameras.
