Lazy Sunday

I didn't wake up in the afternoon, but I have had a fantastic day. It started with a fantastic breakfast eaten under my apricot tree. What was for breakfast? Eggs, lots of em, slathered with cheese and green chili; a pot of dunkin' donuts coffee; mint lemonade; and, of course, apricots. Spent the rest of the early part of the day reading Alaska by James Michener in my hammock, under my apricot tree. Went to work at 2, and almost immediately sold all available units, ensuring myself a decent commision, and freeing up the rest of the day to surf the web and play SH3 on the job.

My life is way too easy right now.

Mmmm...green chile. Since I can't get the fresh stuff out here I really need to be picking up some canned. It would go great on the leftover hamburgers I have.

And Michener's Alaska is next on my reading list once I finally get done with Lord of the Rings. Any good? How does it compare to his other books?

I don't think I've read anything else by Michener. I'm finding Alaska to be a bit clunky, but kind of fun.

I think the biggest difference with Alaska is the smaller time frame for human inhabitance. In that way, it seemed a lot like Centennial or maybe Hawaii to me. I really liked Alaska, though, because it was a region I had little knowledge of. It has been a while since I read it, but I also think I liked a few of the characters a lot. So, based on my fuzzy memory, I thought it was one of my favorite Michner books (having read about 15 or so). FWIW, I think my favorite Michner books are Space (which is very different than the rest) and the Source.
