PING: Orioles Fans (Camden Yards Question)

Hoping for some help from either an Orioles fan or just someone who is familiar with Camden Yards.

I'm going to be in Baltimore on 8/6 and 8/7 with the woman, who's a Yankee fan (BOOOO). On Sunday the 6th, the Orioles will be hosting the Yankees for a day game. Since we have a check-in around 3 PM, we'll have time to kill during the day, and I figured this would be a perfect way to go about it. Plus I've never been to Camden Yards, so I'll be getting something out of it.

Anyway, checking around on stubhub and ebay, there's plenty of decent seats available at reasonable prices. I might spring for the field box seats between home and 3rd (the even numbered sections, from what I see online), but if I don't I'd look into the odd numbered sections above them. As a Met fan, I'm guessing these are equivalent to Shea's "Loge" section. Those are generally pretty good seats, but the problem is that with some of the rows, the mezzanine section above blocks your view of fly balls. I don't want those, but I have no clue what rows of those sections at Camden Yards would also be blocked by the higher section (if at all).

So my questions...does anyone with experience at the park know what rows of those sections would have a full, unobstructed view? And does anyone have some tickets they want to get rid of :)? Thanks.

I've been to Camden quite a few times and must say, even though I've never had better than a "cheapy" seat, the view from anywhere I sat was unobstructed. I've only had the seats in the upper deck, though...really, Camden is setup such that it makes you feel THERE no matter where you sit, I don't think there are too many places with a "bad" view.

First of all, the park is pretty well designed -- unless you get really poor seats, you won't have a bad view. It lives up to its sterling repuation, in my book.

For a one and only visit, I might recommend that you sit on the third base side -- I like sitting anywhere from the dugout down to the near left field area. Here's a seating chart:

Sections 56 through about 76 (the even numbers) are all great viewing, in my experience, and give you a full sense with the warehouse out beyond the right field space. The first base line is also just fine -- no bad views in the house, really, unless you really get stuck in a back row or far corner.

The field box seats are nice, but the last time I sat in them I was right behind home plate and the net bothered me. If you sit too far down either base line, the seats are at a weird angle and you have to turn your head towards the plate. You get that in sections 12, 64, 66, and 68. Sections 73 and 75 aren't any good because of the angles. Any of the lower reserve sections are bad because you can't see the scoreboard that well and you can't see high fly balls.

Anywhere else is gonna be fine.

If you go there you can see the seating chart and clicking on a section will give you a rough idea of how it looks from the seats.

This is where I'm having the trouble. According to the website, sections 19-53 are referred to as "terrace box - front rows, terrace box - middle rows, and lower reserved." So do you know at which rows these cutoffs take place? If I were to sit in Section 31, Row M, would it be obstructed? How about Sec 27, Row H? If I had to guess, I would think those would be middle rows and lower reserved, respectively. But for all I know, the rows in those sections could go up to FF. Again, any help is appreciated.

edit to add: I was thinking of just calling the ticket office and asking how this works, but I figured I'd get the sales pitch of "all rows would have good views."

I sat in section 15 the last game I was there about 3 or 4 rows from the back (under the roof in that section just past first base). There was no problem for me seeing anything that went on during the game. (It was also $1 hot dog night too, a good combo) I don't know if it becomes more of a problem the closer you get to home plate.

The infield terrace boxes (Sections 19-53) only go 15 rows back. They're lettered A through O.

Beautiful park. I'd park as close to the stadium as you can, there was a pretty shady looking project on the one side of the stadium near Psi Net, and I'd try to stay away from that.

I always parked right near the fire station in the Lexington Market area.

I always parked right under the highway (just after PSI.net).
