My friends and I try to play street hockey every other sunday or so. The problem is that in the last year or two people have left town, gotten married, had children, or whatnot and it is getting harder and harder to get enough people together for a game. I think we've played about 3 times in the last 6 months, but I think we could play more often if it wasn't so difficult to determine who was available to play.

Currently one of us sends out an e-mail suggesting hockey, and then people respond to the group. This doesn't seem to work well though, its hard to track who has said yes or no, the total numbers, etc. It generally ends up with me phoning everyone the morning of the game to determine if we have enough, then I have to phone everyone a second time to tell them whether to show up or not.

I'd like to create a site that we can all go to that would allow each of us to basically just check off if we can or can not attend this weeks game. Then the morning of the game people can just log on to the site and see if we have enough.

I can create the site myself, but I'm lazy and thinking there might already be something workable out there for free. I checked out Google Calendar but it doesn't look like it would be exactly what I'm looking for (maybe I'm wrong though?). I also think I could just create a blog on blogger.com that we could each edit, but that is a little less user-friendly than I'd like.

Anyone have any ideas on something I could check out that might help us out here?

Two Options:

http://www.evite.com
http://calendar.google.com

Edit: Oops, just saw you mentioned Google Calendar. I think it would do what you want, what is it you want it to do that it's not doing?

I can't really see on either site how to indicate who is or is not available. I can schedule something, but it doesn't seem to be interactive enough in that everyone can see the responses of everyone else. Basically, I'd like the users to see something like this:

Dave: Yes
Jim: Yes
George: No
Jeff: No
Chris: Yes
John: No

Total Yes: 3

Then each person would have the ability to toggle the Yes/No value beside their name.

I'm an idiot, it looks like google calendar can do it. I have to add a guest, and then they can respond if they are attending and it shows up in the details.

I think this might work, although it might be a little complicated for some of the guys. If anyone has anything simpler let me know, but I might try this.

http://www.evite.com is simpler. Check it out, it is EXACTLY what you need I think..

You create an event, give the details, invite people by e-mail address, they come on and click yes, no, or maybe and can add detail if they'd like.

What wade said. With evite you will be able to see people's responses.

Thanks guys. We're gonna try google calendars first, then evite if that proves too difficult for everyone.
