Jeez. A little excessive, don't you think?

Well, the important thing is, they're helping people who normally couldn't afford this kind of stuff.

Not really. I wouldn't exactly call the ESPY's a must attend award show, and this way they reward the ones who decide to attend.

Er, not reward, but give the athletes some incentive to travel to NY on their off-day.

It's just advertising. The list gets put out there, they get exposure, and some people go "Hmm, let's see what XYZ is."

All award shows give gift packages to presenters/nominees. They usually end up being quite expensive. The companies who make the stuff provide it in return for promotional considerations - such as listing in a press release announcing the gifts - so it costs the group putting on the show nothing.

Its a non event, and non news story.

Yeah, kind of what I was getting at without saying all that.

All award shows suck. Next thing you know FOFC will have some awards show.

Is this intentional, or have you never heard of the Golden Scribes?

You definitely DON'T want to see what's in the gift bag those guys get. Sandwiches despoiled by HA and microwaved peeps have been in previous gift bags.

On the bright side - the value of all those goodies in the gift basket is taxable to the receipient as compensation. :)

Yeah, I've heard stories about those sandwiches. DO NOT open the box with "dola' written on the outside of it.

I heard they put a couple vials of EPO in the bag so Lance wouldn't miss Le Tour too much during this time of year.

I'd probably punch Lauren Bacall for that gift basket.
