For those that can't get enough Civilization in their lives, and for those who haven't yet been able to join one of the games already underway...I bring you

SIMCIV

SimCiv will be run using Pitboss. I'd like to do the accelerated start, with everyone online together to kick the game off and get through the first one or two thousand years in an hour. This worked well in CivEarth, after we got everything figured out. I'm quite sure this game will be up and running without a hitch. The accelerated start will only happen, however, if we can get a concensus as to when to begin. I'm thinking that late at night (around 10:30 PM Eastern time) on a Saturday is the way to go.

If we get enough players but can't agree on a time to meet online, I'm willing to nix the accelerated start in favor of a short turn clock for the first thousand years (something like a 10 or 12 hour clock just to get things rolling, then a longer clock as things get more complex). If 10 hours to take your 2- minute turn doesn't sound long enough, remember that you can give your single warrior or scout extended movement orders and it will carry out those orders even if you don't log in. I realize that some people have more time than others to check the status of the game and take their turn. This game is for those that do have that time.

Game setup:
World size will be standard unless we get 8 or more players.
Map type will be Terran, which means we'll all start in the "old world" and be racing to get galleons so we can colonize the "new world" before anyone else does.
AI Civs will be two only, Im thinking of setting one to Noble and one to Warlord level.
Barbarians (is there an option to set barbarian types??)will be set to normal or lower.
Start time will hopefully be Saturday the 22nd (10:30 PM EST) [and that is somewhat negotiable].

Any other questions, just ask.

I would like to play, but don't want to take a spot from someone who isn't already involved in the other games.

If that doesn't matter, I would like to be Elizabeth.

Sharon and I would like to play... but we're willing to bow out if there's trouble connecting between us and Bisbo again (and just pick up the next day after the accellerated start with an AI or something).

Sharon would like to try Louis, and I think I'll go with Roosevelt, if nobody else has him.

my bro ([email protected]) fancies a game - can't commit to the 3.30am start yet but will call it on the day

If I recall correctly, either of you can connect with Bisbo, but not both at the same time. So one of you will need to miss the accellerated start. Unless we get more players that can't make the online start and are interested in using the short turn clock instead.

OK, time for a little poll. Who would prefer...

- Online accellerated start Friday the 21st at 10:30 PM EST
- Online accellerated start Saturday the 22nd at 10:30 PM EST
- Start with a 12 hour turn clock for the first 1000 to 2000 years, beginning
friday the 21st around 6 PM EST

Probably the Saturday start would be my preference.

We're out Saturday, so it would have to be Friday or the 12 hour start

I will defer to Bisbo's preference, since he had to bow out of the last game.

OK, no new players interested in almost two days. Considering that none of those that want into this game are not already in another game of Civ, I'm thinking we've probably got all the players we're going to get.

Looks like a 10:30 PM EST start on Friday the 21st. I would be happy to start earlier if anyone can propose an earlier time and get everyone else on-board.

I am taking my wife to a concert for her birthday this Friday night. I am unavailable.

With Spleen unavailable for the friday night start, and Bisbo bowing out, I'm going to ditch the accellerated start idea. Just not enough players to make that a good idea.

I'm switching to the short turn clock idea now, and we'll start Friday sometime around 4:00 PM EST. The turn clock will initially be set to 12 hours. It might be adjusted a little depending on how well its going.

The start of Simciv is going to be postponed.

Having given up on the idea of an accellerated start, I'm going to start a new thread soon in hopes of generating more interest with the 12 hour turn clock.

Sorry for the delay.
