View Full Version : TDCB Opinions?

Just to redirect things away from the political spectrum for a bit, I have some questions for those who have purchased TDCB. Input from people who also own CAD would be especially helpful.

My main question is has the game grown considerably since CAD or is this just a shiny new coat of paint? Have the issues that carried over from CAD (ie. inconsistent polls, PG rebounding, frequent upsets, etc.) been taken care of?

What about some of the issues with earlier releases such as teams with horrible records being ranked, coaching options not being used correctly, sim speed?

I've fooled around with the demo and it seems solid, but at the same time, besides the recruiting, it doesn't seem much different, engine wise.

Anyway, just looking for some insightful opinions to make my decision even easier. ;)

I'd wait for release 1.20 before asking. From what I understand there will be significant changes in that update. After that I think you'll be able to get better answers to the questions you asked.

Right now, I think the game engine is improved over CAD, but not a significant improvement IMO.

If you have not purchased yet, just wait until 1.20, like Bee said above.

The game is very playable right now, but a major upgrade is coming mid-February. The polls are not very good, I don't think, and there are engine problems, but they are much, much better than CAD. I thought CAD had some major engine problems along the lines of what you mentioned.

Ditto what Bee & Marmel said. I don't see much point in judging the product on 1.19 when 1.20 is (apparently) very close to release.

i downloaded the demo and didn't really enjoy it all that much. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it was a bad game, but it just didn't grab me. I'm not a big basketball fan by a longshot, so i'm assuming that had omething to do with it

Just make sure that if you have any questions just say, "Thanks Arlie, or Thanks Joe."

It got me.

The past two nights, I had the one more game feeling. To me it is playable in its current state, especially as a small school in its current version. I am sure that 1.20 will be another good step forward.

Sorry. That's a little .400 Studios forum inside humor.

It's a joke. A lot of people say that. Even when neither Arlie or Joe did anything. Here's an example.

I figured that, but I wasn't sure. The fanboyism (sic?) turned me away months ago.

It's not so bad in the OOTP forum, but it is sickening in the TD forum.

OK, I find the 400 boards very annoying and rarely go there because of the fanboys, however, I have no problem with the "thanks" thing you guys mention.

I consider just being polite, which frankly, there is not enough of on message boards these days. *shurg*

Well that was a pretty bad example, but there are a lot worse ones.

I don't think it's the "thanks" per se. I think it's more along the lines of an exchange like this:

Poster A: TDCB is REALLY buggy. How could it ever be released like this?!?!?!

Poster B: How dare you bash this GREAT piece of software. Thanks Joe and Arlie.

Now don't get me wrong. I have a lot of respect for Arlie and it seems like they have recovered pretty nicely, but I dont think the "thanks" were really genuine.

They pretty much read like this.

"I bought this game 3 weeks ago. The first week I couldn't eve get the game to open without getting an error message but after downloading 3 patches and 15 windows updates I got it to run. My first franchise I lasted for 4 season and won the national championship but the game crashed and I lost it. I just started a new one but I can't seem to get past week 8. Is the new patch going to address this? Thanks Arlie, thanks Joe."

Look for UCF to become a Duke type program with the installation of the 1.20 update..

Now that's realism, about 20 years from now. :D

Seriously, I've been waiting for some of the glitches from TDCB to be patched up.. After the next update, my waiting is done..

I've gotta have a solid College Hoops Game, and I believe this one will be it.
