Ok, I'm a long time reader first time poster on the forums so be kind :)

Allow me to give a bit of history first. I've followed NFL for around 5 or 6 years now (I live in Australia btw, where we generally get 2 live games a week). Now I bought TPF years ago and got much pleasure out of it despite never being 100% clear on the Salary Cap rules and what have you.

Now, I never did play calling as I sucked at it, I would just sim the games but over the last year or so i've been really keen on play calling.

So when I purchased FOF2k4 last year, while it was a bit of a change from TPF, I instantly felt at home, and felt the game was much more realistic.

But one thing I can never do is Play Calling. Unlike Madden you can just pick any play and 90% of the time acheive what you wanted to do but obviously in a game like this you can't just keep picking the same plays over and over and expect to see results.

I'm better offensively then Defensively, my Defensive plays are so shocking that during a game I let my coach call the plays as he does a better job then me, and even then we are hanging on by the skin of our teeth.

I've played a few Dynastys in my time but always end up simming them after 2 or 3 games due to getting frustrated and I can't figure out why I always go to pieces in the second half after starting so strongly.

Allow me to explain my first game of a new dynasty i've started. Using the 2006 player file from the forum i did a complate draft and started with the 49ers. I managed to pick up Carson Palmer as QB and Portis as RB. My first game was against Oakland in a Pre-Season game. My First 3 plays saw me get about 60 yds, a FG and a TD and even for the remainder of the first half I always looked like scoring again but didnt.

Then AFTER Half time my team goes to pieces and Oakland started reading all my plays, even plays I had never chosen and when they got the ball they were powering down our end get first downs on consecutive plays. Unlick TPF the game doesn't sub players for you (and if it does I dunno how to) so I started subbing players to try and get some fresh blood in the line-up and even that didn't help. It was once more by the skin of my teeth that I hung on for a 10-3 win, but we could have quite easily lost this had Oakland not lost the ball in our red zone so often.

So guys, I beg you, what am I doing wrong, how would you guys advise me to play my game and stop getting slaughtered in the second half AND how to pick defensive plays, like what to look out for whens the best time to blitz etc.

I'll attach the Box Score if I find out how.

Congrats on the whole video thing.

I'll let the more seasoned experts handle the rest of your issues.

Are you a Hammer's fan by any chance?

Why did you use an apostrophe in Hammers?

Because I was tired. Now I'll leave it just because.

Go here and try reading some of the articles listed. They should be able to give you more ideas about how to build your team and gameplan better.

Hey Matt, my advice would be not to call plays -- just work on developing a gameplan. Then sit back, and just watch during the games. I've had the same experiences as you -- playcalling never really clicked for me.

His name isn't "Matt" anymore. It's either "Brandon" or maybe he actually doesn't exist at the moment, as evidenced here:

Actually, for a first time post-er, this guy sure gets a lot of attention around here... and even though he keeps changing identity, we still all recognize him each time... <cough> unlike some of those around here who've switched screenies <cough>.

You may not be an alias, but I can guaran-damn-tee you won't be the same person in two weeks. Brandon, honestly I don't even know who you are at the moment, and I'm not nearly curious enough to google you, but suffice to say that by this time next week you'll probably be a pro athlete or an actor or a model or something. Whatev.

Dola, or maybe you'll be a chick. Actually, my interest in all things Paris might reach an all-time high if the next video is of her and a female-who-is-hot-and-not-named-Nicole-Ritchie-which-is-redundant-because-noone-named-Nicole-Ritchie-could-ever-be-considered-hot.

I think he's making a cloudy attempt at a Paris Hilton joke.

Dude, we're just having a little fun with your choice of screen name. I called you "Matt" referring to Matt Leinart, of course, and Crim started going on about some Brandon guy, who is probably currently Paris Hilton's Lover (or was at last estimate).

I'm still waiting for the oft-rumored but not yet seen Paris-Nicole Lenz lesbian vid...
