I've been doing some research on what alternate TV is out there. I am fed up with the crap that is on TV especially with a 2 1/2 year old in the house. I was going to get Sky Angel (Christian TV), but they don't have their own Satellite. They just have the programming package. You need the Dish network to get it. What kind of deals are out there for Dish network? I really don't have the money to buy the Dish ($149.) and Receivers ($99.) each. What incentive does Dish Network really have to give you a break on hookup if I don't use their programming and only get Sky Angel?
Anyone with info on how to go about this please help?

None. They are in the business of selling programming, not hardware. If you don't want their programming, they are not interested in business with you.

So, in order to get Sky Angel for my kids, I'm going to have to fork over the money for the Dish? That sucks. That's a lot of money.
Thanks for the reply.

We have DirecTV and they have great programming for kids. I have four boys, ages three and a half to seven and a half and there is never a lack of programming for them - and we strictly forbid them from watching commercial television. There's Noggin, Sprout, HBO Family (aka Jam), Discovery Kids and the local PBS station. Boomerang is commercial free as well, although it's just all the mindless Hannah-Barbera stuff.
Anyway, DirecTV has enough built-in parental controls and available programming that I don't see how you couldn't be happy with it...
Good luck.

I have Dish Network, and didn't have to pay for the dish or the receivers or installation. That may have been a temporary promotion, but I'm pretty sure it's standard procedure. You could then pay for the cheapest programming package (which is around $30/month IIRC) and get the Sky Angel package on top of it. I think that the first receiver is free, then there's a $5 monthly fee for each additional receiver.
