Anybody know who offers the best deal out there?

I really know only two, Brinks, and ADT - heard they run about 25-30 bones a month.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

We use an ADT System and pay 22 per month. It covers theft alarms and fire alarms.

Speaking of alarm systems, I'll vent a gripe here just in case anybody else runs across the same situation (forewarned is, after all, forearmed)

The company that did the home inspection on our new house apparently has a deal where they have a Brinks rep come out & do a survey of the property to quote what a system & monitoring fee would be. In our case, there was already a system installed but had no active monitoring as the company who installed the equipment for the previous owners eventually went belly up.

Anyway, the Brinks rep, IN WRITING, assured us that the hardware was compatable with their equipment so we were going to be lucky and not have any additional installation charges, all we had to do was sign a three year monitoring agreement and we'd be all set.

Only problem with that turns out to be that the person who made the promise apparently works for Brinks national sales office ... which has no ability to make any promises, quotes, guarantees or anything else for the local vendor which services the area. And so now I'm sitting with a $450 quote for installation on top of the monthly fee ... and it only took them 2 months to get around to even bothering to come out to take a look to discover this.

Meanwhile, the chief competition for Brinks in the area is actually a division of a local electrical cooperative and they've got a pretty good reputation, at least with the people I've talked to in the area. Problem is, it took 8 phone calls over 6 weeks time to even get them to respond to a sales call, and their quote on equipment was $1300.

At this point, we're feeling absolutely zero confidence in either company's ability/willingness to handle the monitoring properly if it takes them 2 months to even respond to a potential customer that represents a tidy profit on the hook.
