Xbox 360 Game Suggestions for a 5 year old?

One of my best friends had an unexpected emergency and he just dropped his 5 year old kid off here to stay a few days. Now being a professional, this should be easy for me and my wife to handle, but he is used to staying up late during the summer and he is wound up for a variety of reasons. Now is not the time to worry about getting him to sleep immediately. Anyway, College Football was too hard and frustrating for him even on Freshman, and my other games aren't too appropriate for a 5 year old. He is trying Frogger now but finds that somewhat frustrating. He is very bright for his age, but not the most coordinated. Any good suggestions for a good 360 downloadable game for a 5 year old?

Most of them rely on coordination to one degree or another. Nothing on XBLA is going to be 'easy' for him, nor frustration-free.

Pac-Man won't be out for another two weeks, or I'd echo jbmagic's suggestion.

Try the Feeding Frenzy demo. That one might work.

My 5 year old daughter loves Feeding Frenzy and is actually quite good at it. In fact, we upgraded to the full version last night and she's almost completed all 42 levels (go figure). My 7 year old and 5 year old enjoy the SpongeBob Squarepants game - it's for the XBOX but runs fine on the 360.

Thanks for the suggestions. Feeding Frenzy definitely sounds like a possible winner, and I might even run out and buy the Spongebob game if I can find it somewhere reasonably priced. He has tired himself out for the night and is already falling asleep now, but I'd almost swear this was a plot by my wife if I knew it wasn't. I was thinking I was ready for kids and was starting to gently nudge her that now was the time, and she has been trying to persuade me to wait another year or two. Now, I'm starting to think that is a good idea. ;)

On another note, does the Superman Returns movie have stuff that would be really scary for a mature 5 year old? His parents told me they don't want him watching anything "too bloody" but they trust my judgment.

I've told my wife to try downloading Feeding Frenzy with him tomorrow.

He liked bejeweled 2 for a bit, didn't want to try Hexic.

Make sure if you snag the Spongebob game that it's Battle for Bikini Bottom and not the SBSP Movie game.

The former is compatible, the latter isn't.

try Lego Star Wars - all of my kids play it and absolutely love it. My daughter who is 6 and really could care less about video games will play it and think it is funny.

no violence and even though it is "hard" to advance, if doesn't care about that and just has fun with it the way my daughter does it should entertain him.

PS - it is on original XBox, but I saw it on the backward compatibility list.

He LOVES Star Wars. He has a bunch of oddly distorted Star Wars Figures that have big heads and tiny bodies. He has every character from the latest 3 movies and likes acting out the final battles in the 3rd movie. He loves talking about the lava pit battle. That is why I'm thinking Superman might not be too scary for him even though it is rated PG-13 for "intense violence." Then again, I'm leaning towards just renting Nemo and Shark Tale both movies that he likes and I can tolerate watching again (and maybe even enjoy them.)

After having her give him a benadryl, and getting ahold of my buddy, we've decided the best thing to do in this situation is have him go stay with his cousin who lives back in the New Orleans area for the next few days. I'm bummed out. Even though he was tiring me out last night, he was a lot of fun to have around.

Brandon is visiting today (despite my being a bit under the weather) with his father, and Feeding Frenzy is a HUGE hit for him. It's easy enough for him that he got to level 6 on his first try, and now he wants to try to get further. He has been playing for at least an hour which is a record for any game I've ever seen him play.

Oh yeah, he took a non-drowsy allergy medicine before coming over to make sure our cats don't bother him, but I think it was mainly the act of sleeping over and lying on the bed with cat dander that got to him.

Yeah, he really does love it. My wife saw him playing it, and she loves it too. She wants me to buy it so she can play it too. ;)

1. you will never actually be ready...no matter how ready you think you are, you really arent. if you keep waiting until you are actually ready, you will never actually have kids.

I thought I read somewhere that Lego Star Wars II for the 360 wouldn't be the same 59.99 as most other titles. This does leave me with high hopes that since Nascar won't be out for the 360 this year, that the Xbox version will be backwards compatible. Now, if Microsoft would make Conker's BC, then I'd be a happy gamer.
