Football Manager (soccer) is the best sim. for american sports, yes, FOF is tops. but all around FM take the top prize.

for American Football, FOF is the best sim out there. Not even close.

Bowl Bound College Football is IMO more fun to play but it's nowhere near as statistically accurate as FOF The College Years.

Johnny - Can you elaborate more on BBCF being more fun to play? I haven't tried either BBCF or TCY, but I have grown tired of FOF and am looking for a new football sim. Thanks

Care to elaborate? I find both to be quite accurate.

If he's talking about the polling/ranking system, then "BBCF" and "accurate" don't belong in the same sentence.

I LOVE TCY, but the polling system in it isn't exactly stellar, either. Of course, I don't really care that much about polling systems, either. All that being said, I'd submit that polls have nothing to do with being "statistically accurate."

Let me also throw in a mention of Fast Break College Baskeball here. I think that a lot of people would agree that it is one of the most fun sims out there.

I'm having a good time with the latest version of PureSim right now. Shaun has really stepped up his game!

In just the short time that BBCF has been out I've spent easily 2 or 3 times the amount of time with it than I have TCY. For me the key element is that recruiting in BBCF can be assigned to your staff and they will actually do a good job and you'll be able to have a strong team whereas if you leave it to your staff in TCY within a few seasons your team is in the toilet.

I'm a big fan of FO type games.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I am always amazed (dismayed, I tell you!) when people make comments like yours. Recruiting is the lifeblood of both games, in my opinion, so why anyone would want to assign that to your staff is beyond me. But to each his own, and if you enjoy the game that way more powerto you.

Football Manager is #1 in my book by a wide margin.

FM for solo play
FOF for multiplayer

i would agree with that, with the exception that OOTP should be tied for best MP game w/ FOF. OOTP is more customizable and editable.

I agree that OOTP has by far the best set of MP features, but I personally find the sim itself so boring and repetitive that its just not very fun for MP.

FOF has a lot of issues with its MP implementation, but at the end of the day I think it is a lot of fun.

well, i think there's a difference between being fun and simply "being stable". MP was implemented in FOF as a very bare bones feature. just so happens bare bones is all you need for stability and usability, so it doesn't get in the way of the game (which is all you can ask for, really). still, i think FOF MP could be improved upon in future releases.

Maybe it's just the way it is presented but FOR ME it is the actual games that I am interested in not Johnny Jockstrap high school senior who was 55 out of 197 for 678 yards 5 TD and 8 INT.

I think that with a couple of tweaks, TCY would be the best american football game out there. The latest FOF is slightly better but it is much newer. TCY 2 is the answer Jim. Please!

TCY maybe nice but an updated pro game is needed because BBCF is getting a free upgrade.

Best Overall: Football Manager (New convert, but this game is epic)

Best Small Independant Game: FOF/TCY (Still an awesome game(s) that I play regularly)

Best College Game: Bowl Bound (I played that game everyday for months)

Best Multiplayer: OOTP (If you get into a great league, it's unbelievably fun; otherwise, not so much)

Best Nostalgic Game: FOF (Even though I hate the interface, I will buy every Solecismic game because of the care put into them, and because they were the first sim games I played, and because Jim lives in Michigan)

Of course, these are just one man's humble opinions.
